VACANCIES
Applications are invited from Citizens of Sri Lanka for the Posts of
(A) Electrical Engineer Class II Grade II
(B) Mechanical Engineer Class II Grade II
On Contract Basis for Ceylon Electricity Board, Lakvijaya Power Plant, Norochcholai
A. Electrical Engineer Class II Grade II
1. Qualification and a) Bachelor’s Degree in the field of Engineering specialized in Electrical
Experience Engineering from a University in Sri Lanka. (Four-year Engineering Degree
Programme, which is recognized by ‘The Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka’),
OR
b) Should have passed as Electrical Engineers of ‘The Institution of Engineers, Sri
Lanka’, completing the full course and the project,
OR
c) Any other qualification recognized as equivalent or higher in the same field by
‘The institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka’, (Letter of accreditation by IESL shall
be annexed).
In addition to (a) or (b) or (c), Associate Membership of The Institution of
Engineers Sri Lanka is mandatory and a copy of membership shall be uploaded.
Note: Preference will be given to those who have successfully completed
Power Systems, and Electrical Machines as subjects.
B. Mechanical Engineer Class II Grade II
a) Bachelor’s Degree in the field of Engineering specialized in Mechanical
Engineering from a University in Sri Lanka. (Four-year Engineering Degree
Programme, which is recognized by ‘The Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka’),
OR
b) Should have passed as Mechanical Engineers of ‘The Institution of Engineers,
Sri Lanka’, completing the full course and the project,
OR
c) Any other qualification recognized as equivalent or higher in the same field by
‘The institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka’, (Letter of accreditation by IESL shall
be annexed).
In addition to (a) or (b) or (c), Associate Membership of The Institution of
Engineers Sri Lanka is mandatory and a copy of membership shall be uploaded.
2. Age Limit Should not be more than 35 years of age at the closing date of applications.
3. Salary Commencing from Rs. 153,000 per month as per applicable CEB salary scales
4. Place of Work Lakvijaya Power Plant (LVPP), Narakkalliya, Norochcholai
5. Closing Date 25-04-2023
6. Terms and a) The appointment will be on contract basis for a period of five (05) years.
Conditions of Service Those who have successfully completed continuous five years’ contract
period will be considered for absorption to the permanent Electrical /
Mechanical Engineers of CEB.
b) The first year’s contract employment consists of ‘On the Job Training’ for
operating plants and other auxiliaries of LVPP.
c) Recruited Engineers have to serve continuously for five years in LVPP.
7. Other Benefits (a) Those who are selected will be entitled to Employee Provident Fund (EPF)
with Employees’ contribution of 10% and CEB contribution of 15%.
(b) Employees’ Trust Fund (ETF) contribution of 3% by the CEB.
(c) Bachelor-based accommodation will be provided.
(d) Those who fulfill the requirements will be placed in the applicable salary
scales and they will be paid applicable allowances with effect from the
beginning of the 2nd year of contract employment.

Institutions whether the applicant could be released or not if selected.

be entertained. Depending on the number of applications received, they will be short-listed, and the
applicants who were short-listed will only be called for the final interview. Any form of written or verbal
canvassing is strictly prohibited, and such an attempt shall be considered as a reason for disqualification.
