Back to School...Back to Church!


Its that time again back to school! And for many of you, that also means back to church! Weve missed seeing many of you, and we cant wait for our ministry to kick into high gear for the fall. We hope, and pray, that you will be a part of everything! This past summer our church as gone through a renewal process. There is a lot of energy and excitement around here, and it is contagious! That same excitement is alive in our student ministries, and this fall promises to be filled with lots of great opportunities to live out our faith. Please, take some time to read through this newsletter. This is YOUR ministry, and we want you to know what is going on and how to get involved. And after you read it, dont throw it away! Hang it up somewhere, put dates on your calendar, do whatever you need to do in order to stay connected to YOUR family of faith. We would hate for you to miss out on something incredible simply because you didnt know about it. So here it is, everything you need to know!

This semester we will experience a Worship Feast and our study focus will be on the many ways in which we are invited into the presence of the Holy! Cost for dinner is $3.50 per week, or $38.50 for the semester. If you have a family of 4 or more participating in Unite (children, youth, or adult components) you can pay a family price of $137.50 for the semester. Come join us! School is back in session, which means FREE pizza for our High School Students! Each Thursday we will be at a school hoping to have lunch with you! Watch the schedule so you know when we are at your school.

Senior Lunch
Hey Seniors! Did you know that there is a FREE lunch just for you offered every Wednesday? It is at First Presbyterian Church, located at 9th and Rankin (across from Central Middle School). We have been asked to spread the word to our students about this opportunity, so here is your invitation! It started August 24th Mark and I hope to see you there!

Sunday, September 11: 2nd Sunday

We are trying a new ministry called 2nd Sunday. It will take place each month on the 2nd Sunday, and will include lunch, activities, and faith building conversations. It will be a great opportunity for you to not only get a free lunch, but also build strong relationships with one another while walking the faith journey together! Time is from 12:15 1:45 p.m. in the Family Life Center.

Sunday, October 19: 2nd Sunday

Its another 2nd Sunday from 12:15 1:45 p.m. Come join us for lunch, activities, and faith building conversations in the Family Life Center. And dont forget to return this evening for Follies!

Challenge Course Registration Deadline Sunday, September 18: Challenge Course!

Saturday-Sunday, October 15-16: Lock-Out!

Today we head to the UCO challenge course for a day of strengthening relationships and building trust among our family of faith. We will be participating in both low and high elements, including a zip line! We will leave the church at 12:30 p.m. and return at 5:30 p.m. Cost is $20 per person and you must register at www.fccedmond.org/challenge by Sunday, September 11.

Interfaith Tour Registration Deadline Sunday, September 25: Interfaith Tour


Today we have an awesome opportunity to participate in an event sponsored by the Oklahoma Conference of Churches. It is called the Interfaith Youth Tour and is open to students in the Metro area, and is designed to build bridges of understanding between different faith organizations. We will visit 3 different houses of worship (Muslim, Jewish, and Christian) and learn about their faith, customs, and traditions. We will pay the registration fee for those that want to go, but you must register at www.fccedmond. org/interfaithtour by Sunday, September 18. We will leave the church at 12:15 p.m. and return at 6:00 p.m.

Its a Lock-Out! The evening will begin at 10:00 p.m. Saturday and will conclude at 8:00 a.m Sunday. It is a night of activities and no sleep! We begin with 2 hours of extreme bowling at Boulevard Bowl, then we move to Laser Quest for 2 hours of laser tag, then we really heat things up as we go to the Edmond Fire Department training facility to see if you have the right stuff to be a firefighter, and finally we end with a raid on IHOP for a well deserved breakfast. Cost is $30 per person and you must register at www.fccedmond.org/lockout by Sunday, October 2nd.

Sunday, October 23: Fingerprints

Called to be the hands of Christ in the world, we leave our fingerprints of love as we reach out to our neighbor through service. Today we will be serving dinner at the Oklahoma City Rescue Mission. We will leave the church at 3:30 p.m. and return at 6:30 p.m.

Sunday, October 30: Fall Fest

Its a Fall Fest for Childrens Ministry! We are inviting the children of our church to a party that you will be hosting. Games, activities, and food will be included. The party will be held at Mitch Park from 4:30 6:30 p.m., and everyone is invited to come and help with this event.

November Events
Sunday, November 6: Fingerprints!
Today we will be helping out our church members by offering our services at their homes - yard work, cleaning, repairs, etc. We will meet at the church at 1:00 p.m., divide into teams, and return at 4:00 p.m.

December Events
Friday, December 2: Snowball!
Its the 16th Annual Snowball Christmas Party! Dont miss the biggest themed celebration of the year. There will be more information provided - look for your invitation in the mail in November. Registration deadline is Sunday, November 27. Register at www. fccedmond.org/snowball.

Sunday, November 13: 2nd Sunday

Its 2nd Sunday! Join us in the Family Life Center from 12:15 - 1:45 p.m. for food, fun, and fellowship!

Sunday, November 20: Rehearsal for Hanging of the Greens

Our annual Hanging of the Greens service is next week and we need to practice! Please meet in the Sanctuary at 4:30 p.m. We will conclude at 6:30 p.m. All students are needed!

Sunday, December 11: 2nd Sunday

Its 2nd Sunday! You should know the drill by now. Please join us again for lunch, activities, and faithful conversations from 12:15 - 1:45 p.m. in the Family Life Center.

Its time for the Hanging of the Greens! Please meet in the sanctuary at 4:30 p.m. so we can put the finishing touches on our service. We will provide dinner after rehearsal. The service will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will be followed by a reception.

Sing a joyful song - we are going Christmas Caroling! Everyone should meet at the church at 4:30 p.m. We will go spread some Christmas cheer and then return to the church for some yummy hot chocolate! We will be done at 6:30 p.m.
