Apart from the air pollution as a result of using transportation, there is significant decline in air
pollution from other sources.
Air is getting less contaminated by the industrial activities gradually, the sharp plunge is more than
50% downside, from 5.75 Million Tones to 2 Million Tones of Air pollutants in 1990 and 2005,
respectively. Air pollution by Household which was around 1 Million Tone in 1990 has been
increased slightly from 1996 to 1999 but steady declined to just above 0 in year 2005. There are
minor ups and down but air pollution due to Transport has been steady which is 1 Million Tone from
1990 to 2005.
Total Air Pollutants was having steady fall from 1990 to 1999 which is from 7 Million Tones to 4
Million, after a small halt between 1999 and 2002, it again started declining at faster rate till 2005.
