Aims:
1. to revise the form and the main uses of the Present Perfect Tense
1. to highlight the differences between the Present Perfect Simple and the Past Simple
2. to review adverbs such as for, since, ever, just, yet and already used with the Present Perfect Simple

Objectives:
At the end of the leson students will be able to:
1. Use the Present Perfect Simple and the Past Simple in different contexts
2. Identify the different uses of the two tenses
3. Use the adverbs for, since, ever, just, yet and already with the Present Perfect

Teaching Aids: handouts, whiteboard, marker

Skills: reading, writing, speaking

Stage Procedure Interaction Skills Time


Warm-up T greets and asks if anyone is absent 6’
T asks ss to read their homework and corrects Ss-T, T-Ss Reading,
where necessary writing
Lead-in T writes the following sentences on the board and T- Ss 5’
asks the ss to tell the difference between them: Ss-T Writing
Speaking
“We were married for 20 years” (finished action)
“We have been married for 20 years”(unfinished
action)
Introductio - The teacher writes three more sentences on the T-Ss Writing 6’
n to the new blackboard and asks the ss to name the tenses used Ss-T Speaking
lesson and to identify the verbs in the Present Perfect.
