War. Poverty. Crime. Hunger. Pandemic.
With all the injustice that exists in today's world, it's
easy to lose faith in humanity. You may ask yourself, 'Why should I care if no one else cares?
We may be better off accepting the world as it is because nothing seems to change or get better.”
While it is important to acknowledge the injustices that exist and see them as serious problems
that need to be resolved, it is equally important to do our part to ensure that these solutions
become part of reality.
Humanity has come a long way and learned how to build relationships and create civilizations
that live in this world that lives on love and harmony. All humans participate in this great task of
leading humanity to a worthy and exalted place on this planet. And here we all have to be proud
of ourselves and pass on this message to the next generation.
The world has shut down due to the covid-19 pandemic. All are affected rich or poor and those
who are below the poverty line are the ones who are affected by this pandemic.
Humanity is generally perceived as a charitable organization. As the old saying goes, it starts at
home. It extends to the streets we travel, the places we live, and the people we meet. Humanities
not so many people criticize are rare today. A lot. It grows and develops much better than it did
centuries ago. Humanity has thrived by accepting and supporting humanity in many ways, from
the individualistic to the social to the larger perspective. Nevertheless, there are still people out
there who are not lucky enough to let humanity live at the center of its existence. They seek the
light of hope and love and are there to feel the traces of passion and tenderness.
For this reason, the University Of Cagayan Valley conducted the Feeding Program Ka-Gulong in
Partnership with the Tau Gamma Phi, Artreliet Kitchen Mobile, and some student leader
volunteers from the University of Cagayan Valley during the whip of typhoon Ulysses here in
Tuguegarao that caused massive flooding.
The feeding program started On October 15, 2021. The volunteers used the UCV – CVP building
to prepare for the foods that will be distributed among all the kalesa and Tricycle Drivers around
the Tugugerao for they are the ones who suffer the most ever since lockdowns started due to
covid pandemic.
There are 250 tricycle drivers and kalesa drivers who benefited from the feeding program and
17000 benefited from the Art Relief Operation.
All participants are enlightened about how significant to be a service to others and were able to
appreciate the collaborative efforts of everyone. The participants hope that this kind of humanity
will transcend beyond space and time.
At the end of the day, the purpose of human life is to serve, show compassion, and be a help to
others. 2020 will be remembered as the most difficult time in our history. The COVID-19
pandemic has brought despair, destruction, and death. Today our world war has turned from
armed conflict to fighting hunger, better health care, racism, and education.
No matter who we are or where we come from, it is a daily struggle that we all face. We have to
always adhere to our beliefs in humanity, cultural understanding, and respect for others.
