business, its location and the total funding requirements and the possible

glutinous rice flour with various fillings such as ground pork and ham & cheese.

Once cooked, you can observe its crunchiness on the outside but sticky and

chewy on the inside. In Mochi Rice doughnut hole, the word “mochi” mostly

refers to the ball of sweet rice. It’s more than just a treat. In Japan, it’s a symbol

of good fortune that was widely consumed by the aristocracy. It represents

sustenance for those that need it, as it’s incredibly filling. The uniqueness of

this product came from the fact that you can get a balanced combination of

would like to negotiate with the staff in the photocopying business, alongside
5

the Business Affair Office, to persuade them to be our partner network. Their

business will serve as an additional way to market our product and their spot

are also near the university cafeteria which is perfect for selling our product

especially at lunch time. Aside from this, we will also post our business online

and help spread the word with the help of colleagues with the use of online and

word of mouth marketing strategies. We will also wander inside the campus of

Laguna State Polytechnic University to sell our product personally to our

Business Product and Position

This business is specifically designed for students who want to utilize

time on complying with their requirements without neglecting a balance and

healthy diet. Mochi donut is an on-the-go food that gives nutritious and

convenience for every student despite of their busy schedule, as well as by

bringing the LSPU community together by promoting healthful diet and avoiding
6

skipped meals.

Wealth Improvement Approaches

This presents the different methodologies and approaches that should

be taken for:

• Maintain competitive advantage

Our product, MOGO is affordable in comparison to other products

proposed by our competitors. It can also satisfy your hunger, for our dough

is made up of rice flour that is rich in carbohydrates, and give consumers a

well-balanced protein, potassium, calcium and vitamin A. MOGO is

designed to be an on-the-go food which can be very convenient especially

for those students who has a busy schedule. It is relatively easy to eat but

can still give consumers a well-balanced carbohydrate, protein, potassium,

calcium and vitamin A.

• Position the business in the market

Mogo is an innovated product that came from a simple snack to an

on-the-go food. This product is designed to be eaten while you are busy

doing other works. It is perfect for students who is struggling with late lunch

schedules. Mogo will immediately satisfy their hunger as it is rich in

carbohydrates, protein, potassium, calcium and Vitamin A which are all a

great support for heart, immune system and energy that can last all day

long.

• Improve the market share

Mochi Rice doughnut hole will increase market share through

consistency and strengthening customer relationships. Consistency is one

7

method by which Mochi may increase market share. The consistency of a

product can leave a mark on the minds of customers. This help consumers

to not confuse our product from others as it has its own unique consistent

taste. Consistency can also take part especially when utilizing the supply

for the product. It helps avoid excessive use of raw materials which lead us

to increase our supply. By strengthening customer relationships, Mogo

business will try its best to prevent current customers from jumping ship to

a competitor. We would also use word of mouth marketing, this can grow

market share using a simple tactic which when satisfied customers

frequently speak of their positive experience to friends and relatives who

then become new customers.

• Maximize utilization of resources

We will utilize our existing resources by having the information about

the availability of the raw materials and buy them at the right time for the

production. This will help in managing the costs and smooth execution on

the product activities. We will focus on one and the most efficient way for

producing Mogo that can also add to the consistency of the product. We

will learn the art of doing more with less and planning out the best method

to use the resources. As we are working, all the ingredients especially those

who are critical and less in number would be carefully measured using

standardized tools for measurements. We would store the ingredients to a

proper location with good temperature to avoid spoilage.

• Parties Supporting the Business

Suppliers- They provide raw materials and ingredients that would be

8

use for the production.

Customers- They are the ones who kept the business regulating by

continuously supporting and buying the product

Seller- Seller or the producer of the product. They are the ones who are

behind the production. They made the business possible.

Partner Business- They help market your product and gain more

recognition from your customers.

ENVIRONMENTAL ANALYSIS

This section presents the industry analysis covering the following forces

directly affecting the propose business: the trend in the industry, the

consumers, the competitors, market forecast, market share, market position,

and marketing strategy.

Trend in the Industry

Being in the food industry is tough, there are a lot of competitors of the

same goods and services you provide. The foremost concept trend in the food

industry has likely been the move towards clean food, a loose term for food that

is hyper-local, sustainably harvested, and free of various additives which is

good because Mochi is free from various additives. Adding water prevents the

mochi from sticking to the mallets, machines, or hands that come in contact

with it. Water makes mochi a clean food, devoid of powders, oils, or unnatural

additives. Another similar trend embraces the inclusion of contrasting textures.

Like injected flavors, unexpected textures can give your food a new pop.

Manufacturers and chefs are adding chewy or crunchy elements to beverages

and popping candy to baked goods. According to Greaves (n.d), Mochi is

chewy, smooth with elastic texture. This seems to be a new frontier that leaves

plenty of room for creativity. Especially in today’s Instagramming world, giving

consumers a novel and share-worthy experience is an important goal that food

companies are pursuing. But the more things change, the more they stay the

same. While consumers are embracing personalized service, clean food, world

cuisines, and other trends, they are first and foremost interested in quality

products and services. As the food industry is propelled into the future, the most
10

successful companies will continue to be those that play to their own strengths

and put customer satisfaction as their top priority.

Mochi is popular across all ages. However, it has a rather bizarre effect

on a person’s health, if consumed the wrong way. There are multiple occasions

when a person must be admitted to the hospital or attended by healthcare

professionals. Mochi injuries are usually caused due to choking and suffocation

due to its sticky nature. Healthcare departments are releasing consumption

techniques along with the packaging samples. It must be cut into short pieces

and consumed slowly. This caused to have some slight change for the demand

of the product. The various factors affecting Global Mochi Industry are usually

the government policies like tax which can be encounter when we are buying

ingredients for the product. Aside from this, other competitor businesses’

growth also plays a big role in the trend and innovation of mochi. Economic

forces such as inflation rate which raises the price for the raw materials.

According to Market Research Hub (2019), In 2018, the market size of Mochi

Market is million US$ and it will reach million US$ in 2025. Overall, with demand

for Mochi nowadays, we can foresee a good and profitable product for our

MOGO.

Mogo is an innovated product we made from Mochi and Chapssal

Doughnut. With this fusion, we aim to make a more profitable product with the

help of global trends. Mochi is a Japanese traditional food. Although it is related

to the Japanese new year festival, it can be easily found in the market and
11

consumed all-round the year. The protein concentration of mochi rice is higher

than that of the normal rice grain. Mochi is easily found in supermarkets and

pantries all around Japan. There are different seasons for different types of

Mochi. Mochi for Cherry-blossom season is different from Mochi available

during Children’s day. However, the most popular season for mochi is the new

year. On the other hand, Chapssal doughnut is a traditional doughnut of korea.

A doughnut or donut is a type of fried dough confectionery or dessert food. The

doughnut is popular in many countries and prepared in various forms as a

sweet snack that can be homemade or purchased in bakeries, supermarkets,

food stalls, and franchised specialty vendors. According to Technavio’s market

research report, the global doughnuts market will grow at a CAGR of more than

5% during the forecast period. One of the key factors driving the market’s

growth during the projected period is the growing number of stores and retail

outlets. The doughnuts market is characterized by the presence of numerous

small and large vendors and is highly fragmented. Vendors are increasingly

competing against each other to increase their market reach and to meet the

growing needs of consumers. This adds to the idea of the business but

nonetheless, mochi is the main product we based from.

Mochi is fast becoming popular in many regions other than Japan like

Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Mainland China. In fact, there are many variations of

mochi in different countries. In Taiwan, a traditional Hakka and Hoklo pounded

rice cake was called tauchi and came in various styles and forms just like in

Japan. Traditional Hakka tauchi is served as glutinous rice dough, covered with
12

peanut or sesame powder. Not until the Japanese era was Japanese-style

mochi introduced and gain popularity. Nowadays, Taiwanese mochi often

comes with bean paste fillings. In China, tangyuan is made from glutinous rice

flour mixed with a small amount of water to form balls and is then cooked and

served in boiling water. Tangyuan is typically filled with black sesame paste or

peanut paste and served in the water that it was boiled in. In Hong Kong and

other Cantonese regions, the traditional Lo Mai Chi is made of glutinous rice

flour in the shape of a ball, with fillings such as crushed peanuts, coconut, red

bean paste, and black sesame paste. It can come in a variety of modern flavors

such as green tea, mango, taro, strawberry, and more. In Korea, chapssal-

tteok varieties are made of steamed glutinous rice or steamed glutinous rice

flour. In Indonesia, kue moci is usually filled with sweet bean paste and

covered with sesame seeds. Kue moci comes from Sukabumi, West Java.

In Malaysia, kuih kochi is made from glutinous rice flour and filled with coconut

filling and palm sugar. Another Chinese Malaysians variant, loh mai chi is

made with same ingredients but their fillings are filled with crushed peanuts.[40]

In Singapore, Muah Chee is made from glutinous rice flour and is usually

coated with either crushed peanuts or black sesame seeds.

MOGO or mochi on-the-go food is an innovated product from chapssal

donut of Korea and mochi cakes in Japan. According to National Museum of

American History (2000), by the end of the 20th century, ready-to-eat

“convenience” foods like Mogo had become a significant part of our diet.

Meanwhile, a 2014 study by Consumer Trends Report uncovered that 19

13

percent of average consumers select on-the-go food items, nearly 30 percent

of millennials purchase these items. It also stated that about 50 percent of

consumers report they purchase prepackaged on-the-go sandwiches, but this

jumps to 65 percent for millennials. On the other hand, Mochi is a kind of elastic

and sticky food made from glutinous rice flour or other starches. It is from Japan

and has the same snacks in Hong Kong, Taiwan and mainland China. It is very

popular in East Asia. According to a Wise Guy Consultants (2019), in global

market research report, mochi is popular in various east Asian countries like

Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Mainland China. It is naturally gluten free as

it is rice-based. It is also developed as a snack base and available in different

Asian mixes.

The Asia Pacific market for Mochi is growing rapidly. New branding and

packaging strategies have helped to fuel the growth. North American and

European markets are also witnessing growth due to the increasing popularity

of Japanese cuisine. As a matter of fact, according to trendhunter (2019),

mochi's popularity in North America had prompt collaboration with adjacent

industries. The growing popularity of mochi in North America has resulted in

big brands' adoption of the Japanese dessert into their existing offerings, or in

a way that appeals to consumers with various dietary restrictions. The

expansion of how this dessert is now presented ensures that mochi's appeal is

apparent for even the fussiest eaters. Several Japanese restaurants and food

chains are branding these products as ready to go eat products, which are

gaining popularity among young generations.

14

In the Philippines, a traditional Filipino sweet snack similar to Japanese

mochi is called tikoy .There is also another delicacy called espasol with a taste

similar to Japanese kinako mochi, though made with roasted rice flour. It is also

stated that several anime fans can be seen throughout the country. This made

them get interested to foreign foods offered here such as sushi and Mochi from

Japan. According to Diaz (2013), the mochi craze in Manila was started by

Dezato Café, home of the yummy mochi since last 2010. He stated that a food

craze in Manila is never complete without the imported original versions

opening in Manila shores. Ever since then there has been a lot of Mochi

offerings around the Metro and finally, an authentic mochi brand from the

leading Japanese Mochi Deli opened recently – the Japanese Sweets Deli

MOCHI CREAM.

Locally, Filipino students are known to follow the trend and to appreciate

foreign foods especially, those new to their eyes. So far, we want to introduce

Mochi in Laguna State Polytechnic University- Sta. Cruz Campus as an on-the-

go food. According to Daymark safety system (2017), on-the-go food industry

is on the upswing. And some food service professionals actually believe it is an

under-valued and under-appreciated industry. This will be an advantage for us

to promote MOGO more and set an innovated product in the market. They also

stated the fact that everyone is busier today than ever and that the typical family

gathering at the dinner or breakfast table seems to be something of the past.

They also recognize that the market has a bright future, and that it has a long

way to go and grow.

15

According to Hitzdairies (2019), Ample Market Research has recently

added a new study titled Mochi in theirs extensive and huge report catalog.

This market intelligence research releases vital details about the market flow

as well as future status during the mentioned forecast period of 2025. The

Mochi market size is predicted to witness enormous growth projections during

2019-2015. The notable factors are expected to contribute growth of the Mochi

market during the forecast period.

The global mochi market is growing at a steady pace and needs a

detailed understanding to unravel its true potential. The global mochi market is

segmented based on its type and application. The mochi market is segmented

based on its application considering the available source of it like Online Sales,

Supermarket, Retails, and others. Mochi is widely available in supermarkets all

year, however, due to the rise in online services, many mochi producers are

considering the online sales platform as their medium. With the ongoing and

rapid changes in the industry, we aim to be consistent in providing our product

for the students of Laguna State Polytechnic University. By raising awareness

for the importance of a healthful diet, we will promote MOGO as an on-the-go

food.

Consumer Analysis

Customer analysis is just another way of saying demographics. Promotion Idea

sit is essential to know the age, spending power and eating habits of the people

in the geographic area you plan on serving. Customer analysis focuses on our

preferred customer base and is crucial in determining if you are serving the
16

right types of food at the right price levels There are many factors that drive the

customer to come in or stay away. Things like location, decor, food quality and

price are some of the factors that people base their decisions upon. Knowing

this information can guide any improvements you need to make to increase

profits and keep satisfied customers coming back to your product. If you want

to draw in more than just local or regular customers your place of your product

should leave an extensive online footprint and utilize new technologies to

generate more promotion. Our goal is to provide customer analysis and

marketing services to promote our product, strengthen customer loyalty and

drive sales. Analysis of consumers increases the chances that customers will

have favorable thoughts and feelings about our products or services. Our target

market is going to be the Laguna State Polytechnic University students which

age ranges from 15-30 years old. Due to the hectic schedule within the campus,

we believe that this product will be able to serve its purpose and help a lot of

people. As product makers of the mochi product, we assure the customers

satisfaction. We aim to give them an affordable and delicious on-the-go food.

To be able to last all day, the health of our customers must always be a priority.

With the nutrients in our product, it can be an alternative lunch as it is made out

of rice flour rich in carbohydrates and fillings such as ham, ground pork, and

cheese which can be a source of protein, vitamin A, potassium and calcium.

The purpose of undertaking customer analysis as part of a business plan is to

examine the consumers most likely to purchase your product or service in-

depth. Brands can establish different groups of customers and the needs of

those customers. By understanding what motivates them to make a purchase,

17

brands can build their business around providing solutions to those needs.

Talking to our customers and running a survey will be the best way of hearing

about them in their own words, although that does come with biases. Reduce

this by complementing that research with sales data and speaking to customer-

facing employees. Discover their needs is important, the next step in customer

analysis is to get a good idea of what the customer’s needs are. By

understanding their needs, several departments can gear their output towards

answering these questions, rather than taking an “If you build it, they will come”

approach. The best way is to ask them. A survey is great if you can get enough

responses and online services wth them. Consider the past actions of the

group, such as the percentage that have purchased a similar product at some

time in the past Mochi tends to make mochi become a new item in the giftlist

for their families or friends. Our delicious mochi packages are look to provide

quality and trendy images that may surprise all people who get our product

mochi. Spending most of their money on food fit well within their bubble of life.

If we can influence students to buy into our product, we will reap the benefits

as a result. Students will want to feel part of their local community and whether

it’s discounts, rewards or incentives, students will feel more encouraged to

repeat purchase from us and also organically spread positivity towards our

product throughout the student population about how well you meet their daily

needs and requirements. The purpose of undertaking customer analysis as part

of a business plan is to examine the consumers most likely to purchase your

product or service in-depth. Brands can establish different groups of customers

and the needs of those customers. By understanding what motivates them to

18

make a purchase, brands can build their business around providing solutions

to those needs. If we can sell out our product with our co-student, we will have

a chance at continuing to connect with them as they graduate. Students make

up a huge percentage of the marketplace. Finding out what matters to

millennials is one of the key ways to earn their loyalty. If we can get a student

to buy into our product early this can only benefit your business! If they can turn

to our product during their student journey then you’re sure to build a long

lasting relationship with them, and gain a lifelong customer. Reach Some

Students Word of mouth is huge on college campuses. If we can somehow

infiltrate a small group of students who are influential with other groups on

campus, we will succeed. Consider approaching student organizations or

fraternities and offering free products in exchange for promotions.

Competitor Analysis

A competitor analysis is identifying the competitor of the business and

analyzing how your business compare. This will be a tool to give the business

an edge against them. It is an assessment of the strengths and weaknesses of

current and potential competitors. This analysis provides both an offensive and

defensive strategic context to identify opportunities and threats. Profiling

combines all of the relevant sources of competitor analysis into one framework

in the support of efficient and effective strategy formulation, implementation,

monitoring and adjustment. This analysis is being done for us to know who our

competitors are, and for us to have an idea on how we can improve our product.
19

The competitors of our product will be our co-students of LSPU, the

cafeteria at LSPU and the TOINKS at Sta. Cruz, Laguna. First, upon selling our

product this semester, our co-students at Laguna State Polytechnic University

will also sell their product. Some of these students sell a variety of foods such

as graham balls, siomai, burger and etc. For this reason, we made our product

affordable that will suit the budget of the students. Not all can afford meals with

higher price, as a result to that we should have a pricing strategy. This will help

the businesses attract more customers by optimizing prices using competitor

product and pricing data. A successful pricing strategy can significantly

increase sales, result in better cooperation with suppliers, and boost revenue.

This will cause an increase in demand due to the low price.

Second, Students are having a hard time by having a lunch because of

their tight schedule, and this mochi on the go product will be a big help to them.

It is not only affordable, but it also has a lot of benefits that can give them

enough energy for the whole day. We didn't set aside the health of our fellow

students just to earn from our product. Instead, we looked for ingredients that

can give them enough nutrients that they need. In addition, student meals are

very prominent at the school’s cafeteria. Since our product is designed to be

an on-the-go food and a source of carbohydrates, rice meal can be considered

as one of our competitors.

Lastly, the TOINKS in Sta. Cruz, Laguna which sells sandwiches that is

perfect for filling up our stomach. Sometimes, people tend to buy sandwiches

whenever they are on a hurry or busy. That is why our MOGO and TOINKS
20

can have a lot in common. But we should always remember that regardless for

what competitor we are facing, big or small. Minding and innovating our own

product is what matters more. We should try to keep the competition going and

never let our business fall behind. We will assure that they will be satisfied to

our product. Their satisfaction is a must. It’s important to track this factor and

work on improving it in order to make your customers more loyal, high-standard

customer service can win your clients’ hearts and make you recognizable within

your target group. Customer satisfaction is also reflected in your revenue

customers opinion and feelings about the product can affect in both positive

and negative way. Providing great customer service will satisfy both you and

your targets. They get proper service, you get a proper revenue. A give and

take process.

Another analysis we should make is evaluating our supplier. It is to

measure and monitor their performance for the purposes of reducing costs of

the goods required on the regular basis, mitigating the chances of risk involved,

and driving continuous improvement in their performance. In this environment

full of different businesses. Choosing our supplier is one of the things we should

keep in mind. For our competitors especially our co-students at Laguna State

Polytechnic University will be buying from Goodwill and Everlasting which is

our chosen supplier. When things went out of hand and stocks are out, we will

be choosing a grocery store such as Puregold as an option or as an alternative

supplier.
21

In conclusion, Competitor Analysis provides a firm with the knowledge

to leverage its strengths and address its weaknesses and, conversely, take

advantage of weaknesses of competitors and counter their strengths. That is

why it is really important to conduct this, to help us to gain information on how

we can make our product more satisfying to our consumers.

Market Forecast

Forecasting is done by any company to estimate future trends for the

market, and product. Market forecast is a key component of market analysis

which provides with estimated figures based upon some calculation done on

the figures of market research. The projections can be for anything; be it a

product, a company, an industry, or potential demographic. It gives

segmentation of customers based on the demographics and helps in

developing the product marketing mix accordingly.

As the law of demand stated, there is an inverse relationship between

the price and the quantity demanded, it means that as the price decreases the

demand increases. With the affordable price of our MOGO compared to the

prices of the products of our competitors, we can conclude that there will be an

increase of the demand of the product and an increase in the number of our

customers. But as the demand increases due to the low price, the demand will

have an indirect relationship to the supply, that is why the supply will decrease.

As the demand increases, we need to supply more of the products for the

customers, and we need to have additional ingredients for the making of our

products. But most of our competitors also buy their raw materials and
22

ingredients in Sta Cruz, specifically in Goodwill and Everlasting which is also

the same with us. And as the demand of all the products increases there will

be a problem with the supplies of the product, there might be a shortage in

terms of the ingredients.

As we foresee this problem, we already think of the possible solutions.

We, as a group decided to have an additional supplier, so that in terms of

situation happens like that we are ready. The production of our product will not

stop and we can continue to serve the product to our customers.

Market Position

Market position refers to the consumer’s perception of a brand or

product in relation to competing brands or products. It refers to the process of

establishing the image or identity of a brand or product so that consumers

perceive it in a certain way. As cited by Michelle Seidel (2019), positioning is a

marketing concept that outlines what a business should do to market its product

or service to its customers. In positioning, the marketing department creates an

image for the product based on its intended audience. This is created through

the use of promotion, price, place and product. According to Jim Riley, market

positioning is a critically important part of marketing strategy since it determines

to a large extent what customers perceive is being offered to them. It is the

process marketers use to determine how to best communicate their products'

attributes to their target customers based on customer needs, competitive

pressures, available communication channels and carefully crafted key

23

messages. Effective product positioning ensures that marketing messages

resonate with target consumers and compel them to take action.

In market positioning, first step we did is to identify possible

differences/competitive advantage to Mochi doughnut holes. This includes the

product and services differentiation and the level of services/channel

differentiation. Next step is choosing right differences of Mochi doughnut holes.

Product differentiation is very easy to differentiate by using product attributes

of Mochi doughnut holes because competitors are not offering same product

with a same quality. Other competitors are doing services same as Mochi

doughnut holes like home delivery and help to customers to select a suitable

product for their requirements. Therefore, product attribute is a main

consideration to position the Mochi doughnut holes’ products in the target

consumers mind. Lastly, communicate and delivering chosen competitive

advantage.

It is assumed that our consumers will come from different demographics

like teens, adults, girls and boys. Since most of the students from LSPU are

teenagers, they will be our dominant consumer. Most of the students nowadays

are occupied with a lot of requirements, home works, projects, and other school

works. For this reason, it is hard for them to allot a time to eat. That is why we

decided to create a food that will surely help students to address this kind of

problem. They will easily love our Rice mochi doughnut holes because it is easy

to eat and at the same time a heavy meal. Since people have different taste,

they are presented with two flavors namely ham and cheese and ground pork.

Between the texture of the product, the chewiness of the product and the
24

unique flavors, it is something that the consumers will appreciate. The

uniqueness of our product (being a foreign product specifically from Japan) will

give us an advantage in this barrier. Since we are only starting, we aim to go

far beyond our goals and set an impact among our consumers. The best place

to introduce this Mogo of ours is in our university.

All in all, to provide a better product and service, we will research and

monitor in order to know what the trend in the market is, in different places, for

different people. We will continue to innovate MOGO so that everything you

need for an on-the-go food is there. One Mogo, but for all.

Market Strategy

Marketing strategy is the comprehensive plan formulated particularly for

achieving the business objectives of the organization. According to Philip Kotler

he defines marketing as “the science and art of exploring, creating, and

delivering value to satisfy the needs of a target market at a profit. Marketing

identifies unfulfilled needs and desires. It defines measure and quantifies the

size of the identified market and the profit potential. It pinpoints which segments

the company is capable of serving best and its designs and promotes the

appropriate product and services.” In every business, marketing strategy is

important because it provides a blueprint on what you want to achieve for your

business as well as its marketing efforts. There is a lot of marketing strategies

but for our business we will be using word of mouth marketing, direct marketing,

and online marketing specifically Facebook. These strategies will help us to

gain and increase our customers that will be the key for our business growth.
25

Word of mouth marketing is an unpaid form of promotion in which

satisfied customers tell other people how much they like a business, product or

service. According to Litvin et al., 2008 word of mouth has been defined as a

communication between consumers about a product, service, or company in

which the sources are considered independent of commercial influence. These

interpersonal exchanges provide access to information related to the

consumption of that product or service over and above formal advertising, i.e.,

that goes beyond the message provided by the companies and involuntarily

influences the individuals decision-making (Brown et al., 2008). Word of mouth

advertising is important for every business as each happy customer can steer

dozens of new ones. By giving our customers a good service and product, it

will ensure that a customer will be satisfied and they experience something far

beyond on what was expected. The more we interact with our customers the

more likely our product will spread.

Direct marketing refers to selling products directly to the consumer. It

occurs when the “producer” connects with the end user. According to Kotler

and Armstrong (2009) the primary role of direct marketing is to drive a response

and shape the behavior of target audience with regard to a brand. In this type

of marketing, the producer himself encourages or motivates the customers to

buy goods or services. Direct marketing helps to establish relatiionships,

strengthen, deepen and maintain it. Through this, we will be the one who would

market our product throughout the corners of Laguna State Polytechnic

University. The target consumers will benefit from the convenience and

personal attention they receive from direct salesperson. Also, using direct
26

marketing we will have a lot of time to interact with our customers and by that

we can build better relationship with them. It is an effective way to build a long-

lasting customer relationship and grow a flexible, low cost business.

Online marketing refers to the process of gaining traffic or attention

through social media sites. It refers to techniques that target social networks

and applications to spread brand awareness or promote a particular product.

Social media marketing is perceived as a more targeted type of advertising and

is therefore believed to be very effective in creating brand awareness.

According to Investopedia social media marketing provides companies with a

way to reach new customers, and promote their desired culture, mission, or

tone. Also known as “digital marketing” and “e-marketing” social media

marketing has purpose-built data analytics tool that allow marketers to track

how successful their efforts are. Social media is sites that may provide radically

different social action. We all know that nowadays everyone has access to the

internet, and it feed us the discovery of new content. We will use social media

as one of our marketing strategies simply because it provides an easy way for

our product to be known. By posting it online specifically through Facebook,

there will be a high possibility to gain more consumers because they are now

aware that MOGO, an on-the-go product, exists.

27

Figure 2. Online Marketing Sample

With this all in our mind, using a marketing strategy helps to fix the

advertising budget in advance, and it also develops a method which determines

the scope of the plan and it determines the revenue generated by our
28

advertising plan. Using word of mouth, direct selling, and social media give us

an advantage over our competitors because it is an effective way on promoting

our product. With doing this right it will ensure that our product will gain more

consumers and it will prevent us from failing.

BUSINESS DESCRIPTION

This section shall describe the product to produce, the equipment

needed in the small business, the size of the business, in terms of capitalization

and scope, and the personnel required to handle the operation.

Product Description

Mochi rice doughnut hole is a small, round confection consisting of a

soft, pounded glutinous rice flour formed around a ham with cheese and ground

pork filling. The flavors add sweetness and texture. Mochi has been

popularized around the world. As we are creating a new unique product base

from this, we address our business to be in Manufacturing. A manufacturing

business buys raw materials and ingredients with the intention of using them

as materials in making a new product. Thus, there is a transformation of the

products purchased. We will be combining necessary raw materials and Labor

in order to produce this food. These finished goods can be sold directly to

consumers or to other manufacturing businesses that use them for making a

different product.

Our business is in the form of partnership. It is a legal form of business

operation between two or more individuals who share management and profits.

The MOGO business is owned by six people who have equal responsibilities

and equal share of capital to be use in the business. Each member is

accountable for whatever may happen while the business is running such as

liabilities, unwanted accidents and profit or loss. The owners should always be

in harmony in operating and handling the business. Cooperation within the

members will be the key to achieve the business’ goals and objectives.
30

Equipment and materials needed

Equipment is a type of fixed assets used by a company in its business

operation while materials are commodities business use in the primary

production or manufacturing of goods. Here are the equipment’s and materials

that we use in making our product.

• Gas stove. An equipment that allow the user to control the heat

immediately after turning on a banner. It is used to cook our product.

• Measuring cup. Is a kitchen utensil primarily to measure the volume of

liquid or bulk solid cooking ingredients such as glutinous rice.

• Measuring spoon. Used to measure an amount of an ingredient either

liquid or dry, when cooking. In our case we use measuring spoon to

measure our ingredients such as salt and margarine.

• Knife. A tool used to cut necessary ingredients needed in making our

product.

• Tong. A tool used to grip and lift the MOCHI while frying in the pan

instead of holding them directly with hands.

• Pan. Used for frying and cooking the MOCHI.

• Strainer. A tool used to filter liquids from other solid ingredients.

• Peeler. A kitchen tool used to remove the outer layer of some vegetables

such as carrots and potatoes.

• Plate. Used to put the cooked MOCHI and prepare it for packaging.

Size of the Business

Size of the business can be determined through Micro-sized, small

business, medium business and large business. As for our business, we can
31

classify it as a small business. A small business is defined as an independently

owned and operated company that is limited in size and in revenue depending

on the industry. Our business has a short amount of capital during the making

of the product. In addition, we only just started making our product for a short

span of time and our product is not well known yet, therefore we must work

harder to introduce MOGO to the market. Our target market is not a wide range

and it is only limited within the corners of Laguna State Polytechnic University.

All in all, we can consider this as a small business as we do not need a lot of

staffs to make our product plus, we only just began to meet the satisfaction of

our fellow students.

Personnel Requirement

Upon making our product, MOGO, we need to have the following man

power: first, the people who are assigned in cooking the various fillings we

needed, a person who will fry the ham, and someone who will cook the ground

pork. Second, the person who will mold the rice flour in order to make our dough

and enhance it by adding margarine. Next, we need a member who will do the

final touch in making the MOGO by putting the filling inside the dough. After

that, a man is needed to fry our product, the MOGO, within an allotted time.

Lastly, one of our members will have to do the packaging of our product.
32

ORGANIZATIONAL PLAN

This section of the business plan presents the form of the business

organization, liability of the owners, organizational structure, roles and

responsibilities, and salary requirement.

Form of the Business Organization

The form of our business is partnership. A partnership keeps track of

each partner's investment in the partnership through a financial record called a

capital account. A partner's opening capital account balance generally equals

the value of his contribution to the partnership. With this, the overall cost our

product varies from 300 pesos up to 350 pesos, that includes all the ingredients

needed to be bought for this production. The funding that is needed for this

production will come from the members itself. Each member will provide an

equally amount of 50 pesos in order to buy the raw materials.

In terms of duties in partnership the responsibilities that is needed to

perform in the business should also be equally divided, from the manager, and

the people who are assign in different field such as in finance, marketing, and

the operation itself.

Each business is also required to obtain a business permit. Head to the

local government unit of the place you intend to operate your business in.

Secure a business or mayor’s permit. Each municipality has its own specific

requirements and procedures for the registration of businesses. In terms of tax

implication, a partnership is set up easier and has less paperwork, legal

requirements, and tax obligations than a corporation. And the partnership itself

is not taxed on its income, each of the partners will be taxed upon his or her
33

share of the income from the partnership. The Securities and Exchange

Commission (SEC) requires a minimum paid-up initial capital investment of

three thousand pesos (P 3,000.00) for partnerships with foreign partners,

engaged as export market enterprises. Another role of Securities and

Exchange Commission itself is to maintain efficient, transparent, and effective

markets. SEC oversees the involvement and operations of organizations and

individual investors. The business is also required to register in BIR which is

also known as Certificate of Registration (COR), this gives you the legal rights

to operate your business in the Philippines. It provides you with Tax

Identification Number (TIN) and the authority to print and issue official receipts.

It also states the types of taxes you will settle.

Our product, MOGO rice doughnut hole is a small, round confection

consisting of a soft, pounded glutinous rice flour formed around a ham with

cheese and ground pork filling. Mochi has been popularized around the world.

As we are creating a new unique product base from this, we address our

business to be in Manufacturing. A manufacturing business buys raw materials

and ingredients with the intention of using them as materials in making a new

product. Thus, there is a transformation of the products purchased. We will be

combining necessary raw materials and Labor in order to produce this food.

These finished goods can be sold directly to consumers or to other

manufacturing businesses that use them for making a different product.

There are other expenses than business operations to produce our

product. Here are the details how we will use the money in external financing.

We allot payment for tax and licenses. The people who comprise the
34

partnership shall be liable for income tax in their separate and individual

capacities. Meaning, as soon as the profits of the partnership are divided and

remitted to them, they become liable for the income tax due for the money they

received. The business would also provide money for rent space. Businesses

that rent commercial space need to secure a Contract of Lease. Businesses

that operate on private lands need to secure a Land Title. The business would

also be financing fixtures and equipment for the place. Aside from that, the

partnership business would also be spending money to market our product

using various advertisements like poster or through online.

Liability of the Owner or Owners

Our Mogo business consist of 6 general partners that was considered

as unlimited liability. Unlimited liability refers to the legal obligation of general

partners and sole proprietors because they are liable for all business debts if

the business cannot pay its liabilities.

There are some advantages of becoming an unlimited business, such

as having a separate legal identity, allowing the business to take out contracts

in its own name, rather than the names of the owners and shareholders.

Compared to limited companies, with unlimited companies, it is easier to return

capital to shareholders. This is because of restrictions imposed on limited

companies, as defined by the Companies Act 2006. This flexibility is useful

when you’re in a group structure, as it gives more option to move capital

between entities in the group.

As with everything, there are also some disadvantages to your business

being unlimited. Because of the unlimited liability, if things go wrong, the

35

owners and shareholders may not be inclined to take high-risk

opportunities. If partners join or leave, you will probably have to value all the

partnership assets and this can be costly. Sometimes there is a risk of

disagreements and friction among partners and management.

Organizational Structure

This section of the business gives information about how your company

is organized and who is in charge. This section is useful for relaying who

accomplishes what tasks for the business and the qualifications of the board.

Salary Requirement

A salary requirement is the amount of money a person needs to be paid

in order to accept a job offer. It refers to the total compensation an individual is

willing to accept to work in a position. Computing salaries is important, because

it is the way on how the company can measure the expenses. It is also for them

to know if the salary is enough for their employees. Payroll Salary

Compensation and Benefits in the Philippines as provided under the Labor

Code of the Philippines and other relevant laws. The wages a business may

provide are the minimum wage per region and/or sector, holiday wage and

overtime pay for work during holidays or rest days, overtime pay when working

in excess of 8 hours and 13 month pay.

The Wage Rationalization Act, Republic Act No. 6727, sets the minimum

wage rates applicable per region, province and industry sector. Outside of

Metro Manila, the minimum daily wage varies from PHP 317 to PHP 400 for

non-agricultural workers, depending on the region. The MOGO business

employees are Manager, Financial Manager, Marketing Manager, Sales

Officer, Purchasing Officer, and Cook who receives 7,608 php – 9,600 php per

month. And 91,296 php- 115,200 php a year.

39

Holiday pay refers to the payment of the regular daily wage for any

unworked regular holiday. This means that the employee is entitled to up to

25% of his/her minimum wage rate. Where the holiday falls on the scheduled

rest day of the employee, work performed on said day merits at least an

additional 30%. On the other hand, overtime pay refers to the additional

compensation for work performed within eight (8) hours on non-work days,

such as rest days and special days. When they work during these days, they

are guaranteed an additional of 30%.

In addition, the Labor Code also requires employers to become

members of the Pag-IBIG Fund, PhilHealth, and SSS, as well as remit monthly

contributions on behalf of their employees to these government offices. This

ensures that employees have access to affordable house financing, health

insurance, and social security benefits, as mandated by the law.

According to the Arellano Law Foundation (n.d), Pag-IBIG is an acronym

which stands for Pagtutulungan sa Kinabukasan: Ikaw, Bangko, Industria at

Gobyerno. In effect, Pag-IBIG harnesses these four sectors of our society to

provide its members with adequate housing through as effective savings

scheme. For PAG-IBIG, you’ll have to deduct PHP 100 from their salary and

subsidize the other PHP 100.

The Philippine Social Security System is a state-run, social insurance

program in the Philippines to workers in the private, professional and informal

sectors. Currently, the SSS contribution rate is 11% of an employee’s monthly

salary credit, 7.37% of which is shouldered by the employer and 3.63% is

deducted from the salary. In addition to the employer share, you’ll also have to
40

pay for your monthly contribution to the Employees’ Compensation program

that costs php 30 (for those earning over PHP 14,750).

The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation or PhilHealth is

government owned and control corporation with Its main goal is to ensure the

health of every Filipino through social health insurance. For this, total

contribution may vary from php 275.02 to php 1,099.99.

PRODUCTION PLAN

The production plan presents or describes activities related to the

production of goods including the Production Schedule, Production Process,

Processing Plant and Equipment, Sources of Materials and Production Cost.

Production Schedule

For daily production, we are going to produce 20 pieces of mogo a day.

To produce 20 pieces of mogo it takes 2 to 3 hours with the 6 manpower in our

group. The casserole we are using can hold up to 5 Mogo. And the ingredients

that we are currently using is not that hard to find. In fact, it can be bought

anywhere especially in the local market. For that reason, it is not hard for us to

look for the ingredients to produce our product.

Our customers are students. We estimated that only few students can

consume Mogo. They are concerned about what they eat. They tend to make

choices that fits in what they used to eat every day. We really cannot reassure

that they will avail this product because Mogo is not yet quite known, it's been

a month ago since we decided to make this product. And also some students

usually buys their usual order in canteens for they are used to the foods that

are available there. But through the survey that we did last time, three students

were asked about their thoughts for the product and there was not a single

negative feedback encountered. Through this we want to produce 20 pieces a

day.

As our Mogo is an innovated product of Mochi, given the fact that Mochi

is continuously increasing its popularity worldwide, we expect to create an

impactful product for the market in Laguna State Polytechnic University.

42

Production Process

Mogo is an alternative food yet a nutrious one. It gives convenience for

every student especially in LSPU. So, here are the steps in making mogo and

it can be done in home

Step 1. Gather your ingredients and materials

Ingredients Materials

• 1 cup of glutinous rice • Measuring cup

• 1/2 cup of water • Measuring spoon
• 1/4 tablespoon of salt • Pan
• 2 tablespoons of margarine • Knife
• Ham • Chopping board
• Cheese • Bowl
• Carrots
• Potatoes
• 1/4 ground pork
• Onion and garlic
• Oil
Table 3. Ingredients and Materials

Step 2. Mix glutinous rice with water, salt and margarine to make a dough Put

1 cup of glutinous rice into a bowl and pour 1/2 cup of water, 1/4 tsp of salt and

2 tsp of margarine. Knead it until the dough is soft

Step 3. Start shaping your dough. The dough is cut into small circles and to

make it fair we use measuring spoon to have fair measurement. 2 tsp is

required in every piece of MOGO

Step 4. Prepare the fillings We have two options which is ham and cheese and

ground pork. For our ham and cheese, we cut it in into cubes and fry it after.

Next is we prepare the ground pork. We first saute the onion and garlic and we

put 1/4 of ground pork, 1/4 tablespoon of salt and fish sauce and mix it well til
43

it becomes brown. When the pork is cooked, we put the slice carrots and

potatoes and wait for a little minute and it is all done

Step 5. Add your fillings Once the MOGO is divided into small circles add the

ham and cheese and ground pork. And finally, fold the mogo from side to side,

and front to back until you form a little ball, it doesn't have to be perfect but

make sure the mogo closes the fillings

Step 6. Mogo is now ready to cook When the MOGO is all set we are now ready

to fry it. We need to boil the oil in the pan atleast 300 C before we put the

MOGO and we need to cook it exactly 5 minutes.

Step 7. Enjoy the Mogo with the cupcake liner as a packaging

Producing Mogo is quite easy, but it can took a lot of your time to mold

and shape the dough but once it is done, the chewiness of this product will give

energy for the day.

Processing Plant and Equipment

This section of the business plan presents the layout of the processing

plant as well as the equipment used. To best illustrate our business, we used

Floorplanner.com.
44

Figure 4. Top view of the building

In the illustration above, we can see the location of our processing plant

and it consists of Office area in the upper part, Storage area on the lower left

and Kitchen area on the lower right. We are planning to locate our business in

an area where it is close to our target market which is the school. In this way,

it will be much easier to distribute our product. This also adds awareness for

our consumer since they are able to see the business.

The illustration on the previous page presents the office area of our

business. In there, you can see that there is a long table with laptops for the

staffs and the members of the business. In front of this is the projector. This will

serve as their meeting room. Aside from this, upon entering the door, you will

immediately see the sofa with the coffee table. This is where we will entertain

our guest whenever there will be. There is also a separate office for the main

owner or the manager of the business. On the sides are cabinets and desks

where our stuffs will be. There is a printer, books, paper works and telephone

that will play an important role in providing for our business.

Figure 6. Kitchen Area

The pictures above show our Kitchen area, this is where all the

production of MOGO will happen. First, on the first picture, you can see a green

cabinet on the left side. This will serve as the storage for extra ingredients. Next

to it is the refrigerator. Then, the sink and the gas stove as well as some other

utensils. On the second picture, you can immediately see the measuring cups,

knives, and chopping board. Going further, there are extra tools on the next

kitchen desk. This is where the plates, bowls, casseroles, utensils, and others

are positioned. Next to it is another sink because you will never know when

there will be a lot to dishwash. On the center of the room is the kitchen island
46

where all the operations will happen including molding of the dough, chopping

the ingredients and packaging of the product.

Figure 7. Storage Area

The images above show the storage are of our building. This is where

the ingredients, raw materials, and extra tools will be stored for a long time. In

the picture, we can see a lot of shelves proper for storage.

Sources of Materials

Mochi doughnut hole is prepared using the following raw materials and

equipments.
47

Figure 8. Raw Materials

Raw materials are one of the important things for production. If there is

no raw materials then there would be no product of this unit. The firm obtains

most of raw material from the local market. The important raw materials

required for the manufacture of mochi and it is as follows: ham, chees, ground

pork, margarine, onion, garlic, carrot, potato, salt and glutinous rice flour.

Currently the company obtains the vast majority of its raw materials from South

African suppliers.

However, as we are committed to fair terms of trade and promotion of

local business, we intend to engage local suppliers. Hence raw materials may

be sourced from local communal and commercial farmers avoiding

intermediaries so as to minimize costs, ultimately benefiting the final consumer.

The major advantages of doing so being higher margins, faster payments and

lower risks of payment default. Through the use of economies of scale we aim

to maintain low input and production costs.

48

Figure 9. Tools and Equipment

1. Bowl. A bowl is a round dish or container typically used to prepare and serve

food. This is where we place the glutinous rice flour together with the water.

2. Chopping board. A cutting or chopping board is a durable board on which

to place ham, cheese, onion, garlic, carrots and potato for cutting. The kitchen

cutting board is commonly used in preparing food; other types exist for cutting

raw materials such as leather or plastic.

3. Knife. A knife is one of the most versatile tools to have in kitchen. With its

broad and sharp blade, it is ideal for cutting meat, dicing vegetables, disjointing

some cuts, slicing herbs and chopping nuts. We use this knife to cut ham,

cheese, onion, garlic, carrots and potato.

4. Measuring spoon. A measuring spoon is a spoon used to measure an

amount of an ingredient, either liquid or dry, when cooking. We measure the

glutenous rice flour for 1 cup, 1/2 cup for water, 1 tsp for salt, 1/4 for giniling

and 1 tsp for margarine.

5. Plate. A plate is a broad, concave, but mainly flat vessel on which Mochi

can be served. A plate can also be used for ceremonial or decorative purposes.

6. Stove. Often called simply a stove or a cooker, this is included for the

purpose of cooking the MOGO.

49

7. Strainer. It is a device having holes punched in it or made of crossed wires

for separating solid matter from a liquid. After the Mochi was been fry, it used

to strain oil away from Mochi but also to ocassionally sift fine ingredients away

from Mochi.

Materials and Equipment are very essential for day-to-day operation

within a business. You may have the necessary ingredients but without these,

the process would not be able to start. For this reason, the tools and equipment

mentioned above are payed in cash with the use of funds provided by the

different partners in the business. This will serve as an investment for the future

endeavors the business may encounter. We bought the following materials

from the online shop Amazon.com under the terms of Amazon which recently

rolled out a new payment policy called “Pay by Invoice” so business customers

can buy on the marketplace and have more time to pay their bills. We will be

waiting 30 days for payment instead of getting paid every week or two will put

them in a cash crunch. The new policy means corporate buyers can shop on

the broader marketplace and not be restricted to Amazon Business. Since

Amazon is an international online shop, there will be a cost for shipping fee for

5 dollars and above depending on the item that you bought. For the equipment,

Gas stove, it has a warranty card when the item has defect or damage.

Overall, we intend to establish good rapport with all our suppliers and

hence long mutually beneficial business relationships. This shall be undertaken

through working closely with suppliers to ensure uninterrupted deliveries.

OPERATIONAL PLAN

This section of the business plan presents the evaluation of suppliers,

materials requisition and receiving procedures, storage and inventory control

system, shipment system and control and functions of support services.

Evaluation of Suppliers

Suppliers are the one who provide your raw materials consistently under

some terms. In our raw materials we choose Gintong Bukid farm to supply us

the vegetables we need. Gintong Bukid farm is A Hidden Gem in the Heart of

Nagcarlan. It is a three-hectare organic farm which produces all the vegetables

mentioned in the "Bahay Kubo" song as well as kale, lettuce, medicinal plants

and even strawberry. It is situated in Brgy. Buboy, Nagcarlan, Laguna, where

you can vividly enjoy the sight of the majestic Mt. Banahaw. It is located at the

northwest slope of Mt. San Cristobal and northwest of Mt. Banahaw, about 89.7

km drive from Manila. Farming started as a hobby of Arcasetas Family.

Eventually, it finally transformed the family’s land into an organic farm. Since

they will be supplying us consistently, there will be discounts given and in and

they will also be the one who will ship the products in our building. For that we

will have to pay for shipping fee as well as other charges that may apply.

Monterey’s superior quality meats are available in more than 400

Monterey Meatshops nationwide – in supermarkets and in stand-alone

Meatshops called Monterey Meatshop Plus. Monterey Meatshop Plus

exclusively sells a wide range of Monterey pork, beef and lamb products. They

have a lot of branches but we choose the near from us at Pagsanjan Laguna.
53

Our meat supplier they have their own vehicle to deliver their product in your

exact place. Their Ordering Options are; Call us for a special delivery and 2.

Drop by any Monterey Meatshop near you to get the meats you need for your

recipes.

Peotraco food Inc. is our supplier for glutinous rice flour. It is High quality

wet-milled powdered glutinous rice. It can be conveniently stored and does not

absorb foreign odor. Very soluble and also absorbs more water than the typical

ground malagkit rice. They have a lot of branches in NATIONAL CAPITAL

REGION (NCR), Philippines and they have a website to buy the product. Their

company terms are; Accepted Delivery Terms, Accepted Payment Currency

and Accepted Payment Type.

For our equipment and tools, we chose to buy in Amazon. Online

shopping is one of the conveniences of modern life. Unfortunately for many

Filipinos, buying from Amazon is not as easy and straightforward as one would

expect. Some items for sale in Amazon are not eligible for shipping and delivery

to the Philippines. But what made us interested is when they are giving benefits

for businesses such us paying through sales invoice. Amazon having a lot of

suppliers, it’s critical for companies to get their products in front of customers

and into the modern marketplace, and no company delivers customers quite

like Amazon. Amazon is the largest retailer in the world by market capitalization

after overtaking Walmart several years ago. Most Amazon’s suppliers are

based in the U.S., followed by the U.K. and Japan, but the site offers products

from companies from around the world. Whether they offer electronics,

exercise equipment or staffing solutions, a wide variety of businesses count on

54

the e-tail giant for sizable portions of their revenues.

Amazon ship their product to the buyers through these steps. Before you

shop make sure you filter properly the items that Amazon USA can ship to the

Philippines. These is done by the International Shipping filter on the search and

the Amazon Global store filter. Second, consider also the shipping fee for the

items you want to order and the import fee deposit. Minimum shipping fee can

cost from P425.00 to as high as P1810.00. These will depend on the shipping

method, type of item you buy and the number of items in the package and its

weight. If I may add, Amazon international shipping service is a door-to-door

service. They will take care of everything as soon as you placed your order and

until your package reaches your door. The order reached in 4 days. Amazon

can also refund you the import fee deposit that they charged when you placed

my order because when the order was cleared with the customs, no duties was

actually charged.

Those items for shipment to countries outside of the U.S. may be subject

to taxes, customs duties and fees or Import fees. The recipient of the shipment

is the importer of record in the destination country and is responsible for all

Import Fees. With respect to each item for which Import Fees have been

calculated, you authorize Amazon Export to designate a to act as your agent

with the relevant customs and tax authorities in the destination country, to clear

your merchandise, process and remit your actual Import Fees for such item. By

placing your order, you agree to allow Amazon Export to collect the Import Fees

Deposit for the applicable items in your order. This deposit will be used, on your

behalf, for the import fees that they have paid on your behalf to the appropriate
55

authorities of the destination country.

The reason we chose Amazon is the benefits that according to

Devanthal (2019), the data from FactSet suggests that least 21 public

companies generated more than 10% of their revenue from Amazon in their

most recent fiscal year. Among these include data center equipment vendor

Optoelectronics, also an Amazon Web Services (AWS) supplier, which

attributed nearly 60% of its sales to Amazon’s site, while freight company Air

Transport Services Group generated 29% of its sales from the online retail

platform. Consumer electronics makers GoPro Inc. (GPRO), Roku Inc. (ROKU)

and FitBit Inc. (FIT), along with Whole Foods supplier United Natural Foods

Inc. (UNFI) also made the list.

Materials Requisition and Receiving Procedures

Material Requisition refers to receiving the materials you ordered. When

we received the materials, we are ordered to sign a form. It is to let the

purchasing agents know that we received the product. The quality of our

materials is in a good condition. We expected that our product has a good

quality and when we received the materials, it somehow meet our expectations.

When our company needs to purchase new materials from a supplier to create

their products. The company then creates a purchase order to present to the

supplier from which they wish to order materials. The supplier agrees to the

purchase order and sends the materials to Mogo company along with an

invoice. When we received the goods and the invoice, they compare them to

the purchase order. If the documents and goods match, we will have to pay the

invoice.
56

Figure 10. Material Requisition Form

Storage and Inventory Control System

In producing our product, our business own its warehouse and it is

located near an area where a lot of human traffics took place. We make sure

that our warehouse is near our target market because it will be easy to sell the

product and it is convenient for us. For this we decided that the raw materials

that is from our suppliers will be stored in a shelves, bin and drawer. We will

make sure that it is safe and clean. The stock in our warehouse are the raw

materials and components that is ready to use in production. For every

inventory, we decided that the first finished goods will be out for selling. All the

finish product everyday will be sold in the market.

The responsibilities inside the warehouse is equally divided for us to be

easily monitor the product. Every time an employee will use or took something

from the storage area, they will have to fill up a form containing the date, the

materials they will used, where they will use it and name as well as their

signature. This is to monitor well the inventory of the company. At the end of

the day, there will be a representative from the staffs that will create a

summarized report regarding the inventory used for that day. This procedure

should always be consistent every day. This will also serve a way to discover
57

fraudulent acts.

Figure 11. Inventory Tracking Form

Shipment System and Control

A shipment usually refers to the process of moving goods. It can be

made by road, sea or air, since it represents a group of items that will be

transported from one place to another once. The first method of distribution

used by Mochi doughnut hole is home, office delivery. Customer can inquire

through a call via telephone number. They will have to place an order by filling

up a form through text message. It includes their name, address, purpose and

number of Mogo they want to order. They will also be presented options on how

they will pay the said order. We will then assess the given information and after

assessing we will call back for the discussion of down payment. The customer

may have to deposit a down payment to ensure that they will not neglect their

orders when it finally arrived at their doorstep. This partial payment will also be

used to produce goods. We will immediately began the production upon

receiving the down payment.

58

Another method of distribution is to order Online. Selective County

Customers can now go on the Internet and place an order for Mochi. This

method is useful because it allows customers to view the entire menu,

download any special coupons, and order without having to disclose any credit

card numbers. The process will be the same as the previous one but in online,

it is much easier to order and answer the form.

The timeframes for Mochi doughnut hole Delivery vary. For Mochi

doughnut hole shop delivery, all orders are shipped within 5 days of placing

and settling the down payment for the order. The time of delivery may

subsequently vary depending on the location to which the specific delivery is

being made. Orders can be placed at any time between 7 AM and 10 PM. For

the Mochi doughnut hole Delivery store, the delivery fee is based on the weight

of the products you order. A minimum of P50 per delivery is billed as tax. If the

ordered items weigh more than the minimum for P50 delivery, then additional

charges may apply.

Upon receiving the order, a representative will have to sign a form that

will serve as an evidence that they had receive the product safe and with no

damages. They also have to make sure that they will fully pay the products they

ordered. When the product is finally received, an email will be sent to them

containing a thank you letter as well as a survey that will assess how well the

service they had experience. This will lead us to continuing to be better.

Functions of Support Services

Businesses can benefit significantly from people working together, it less

the work in a business and as Henry Ford stated working together is a success.

And that is a habit in our company, almost every one helps in the activity of

acquisition, purchasing and shipment of products.

Basically the responsibilities of our Sales Representative is to

communicate with customers such as answering the questions of the

customers, advising the customers, maintain the positive business and

customer relationship and develop the strategies for effective sales but they

also help in the shipment system and control of the business by checking if the

sales contract and shipping documents, for this is needed before the product is

shipped to the customers. Next is the Financial Manager who budget the capital

of the business, help management in making financial decisions and analyze

market trends to find opportunities for expansion, but he also support some

activities in the shipment system and control specifically in the payment for

shipping fee, he is the one who is responsible in communicating how to acquire

the money from the customers. Marketing Manager, the person who compare

and evaluate offer from supplier, review the quality if purchased products,

job in the operation plan became easier

62

Price

Pricing is important since it defines the value that your product is worthy

for you to make and for your customers to use. It is the tangible price point to

let customers know whether it is worth their time and investment.

The pricing of our product, MOGO is based on the cost of the production

process and then we decided to mark up the price of the product for its profit

purpose, then came to the final pricing of our product. The price of our product

Mochi on-the-go food or MOGO is 7 pesos per piece (insert net weight)

good start for a business. Using a marketing mix like promotion is a big help to

a business or product to its success. These factors can help the product to be

that will make your business grow.

Packaging

Our product is called MOGO (Mochi on the go). It is made of glutinous

rice, and the fillings consist of ham and cheese or ground pork. Our packaging

will be a cupcake liner, the reason why we didn't use a plastic is because the

oiliness of the product might be visible. It can ruin the image of our product.

That's why we come up with an idea that instead of using a plastic, we may use

a cupcake liner. Cupcake liner is made out of a paper, and by that it can absorb

the oil of the product. And it will look presentable. We also add a toothpick with

a logo attached on it. And we'll put the toothpick at the top of our product. The

logo has the name of our product "MOGO". On the other side of it is the

Positioning

Market position refers to the consumer’s perception of a brand or

product in relation to competing brands or products. It refers to the process of

establishing the image or identity of a brand or product so that consumers

perceive it in a certain way. Market positioning is a critically important part of

marketing strategy since it determines to a large extent what customers

perceive is being offered to them.

Effective product positioning ensures that marketing messages resonate

with target consumers and compel them to take action. Since most of the

students from LSPU are teenagers, they will be our dominant consumer. Most

of the students nowadays are occupied with a lot of requirements, home works,

projects, and other school works. For this reason, it is hard for them to allot a

time to eat. That is why we decided to create a food that will surely help

students to address this kind of problem. This business is specifically designed

for students who want to utilize time on complying with their requirements

without neglecting a balance and healthy diet. Mochi donut is an on-the-go food

that gives nutritious and convenience for every student despite of their busy
65

schedule, as well as by bringing the LSPU community together by promoting

healthful diet and avoiding skipped meals.

Between the texture of the product, the chewiness of the product and

the unique flavors, it is something that the consumers will appreciate. The

uniqueness of our product (being a foreign product specifically from Japan) will

give us an advantage in this barrier. Since we are only starting, we aim to go

far beyond our goals and set an impact among our consumers. The best place

to introduce this Mogo of ours is in our university.

All in all, the entire production of the product is the quality and

satisfaction for our customers. We will focus on the feedback of our customers

to know what we are going to enhance to our product. So that if we are going

start the business and the product is our mochi the customers will be loyal to

our product and our product will be treated as the famous food that's because

we reach their satisfaction and that is one of our goals.

Table 7. Costing

The table shows the costing of our business. It consists of Direct

Materials, Direct Labor and Overhead. In Direct Materials Direct materials are
69

those materials and supplies that are consumed during the manufacture of a

product, and which are directly identified with that product. Items designated as

direct materials are usually listed in the bill of materials file for a product. Direct

labor is production or services labor that is assigned to a specific product, cost

center, or work order. When a business manufactures products, direct labor is

considered to be the labor of the production crew that produces goods and

operating their own duties like in the writen on the figure. And the overhead

consists of the tools and equipment that we used to made out our product and

the utilities. Overall, it shows the expenses we spent on the product which leads

to 21.99 pesos per MOGO plus an added mark-up which 30% that made our

selling price 28.59 pesos per piece.

Table 10. Operating Expenses

This figure shows the operating expenses that is related to our business.

This includes the furniture and fixture and the tools we used in making our

product. We decided to give five years of economic life for our depreciation in

every asset that our business own. Depreciation is a process in which the

amount of an asset is decreasing by reducing its value. In the succeeding years

72

we can see that the expenses is increasing simply because our production is

getting higher and our business is getting bigger. Also, we assume that the

reason why the percentages of expense is increasing is because the raw

materials that we needed is getting expensive over time.

Income Statement

Income Statement also called as Profit and Loss Statement, it is made

by the company management that shows the revenue, expenses, and net

income or loss for a period.

continually consumed by consumers. As the sales increase, the operating

expenses also increases. On the other hand, an Income Tax of 30% is

consistently being deducted from Income before tax. Overall, the various

sections in the income statement are all interconnected and for this table it

moves harmoniously with each other.
