Bullying an Informative Essay

Not all forms of abuse result in bruises; in fact, some can make
you doubt your value or even harm yourself due of the state of your
mental health. Did you ever experience bullying? otherwise, did you
bully anyone? Are you aware that bullying is also considered as abuse?
Bullying is when someone purposely and consistently hurts someone or
a group of people in order to cause anguish and put their wellbeing at
danger. These behaviors are typically carried out by individuals who
have greater control over another person or who wish to undermine
another person's strength or sense of power.
Bullying is still a big problem in our community, especially in
schools. In fact, the rate of students being bullied in school is getting
higher and higher every year, 6 out of 10 students are confirmed to be
a bully. They just don’t notice it but their jokes and the way they speak
is a kind of another way to bullying or verbal bullying. Bullying has no
age restrictions; whether you are a toddler or an adult, a person who
wants to humiliate you or make fun of your flaws won't give it a second
thought because their main goal is to bully and humiliate you.
In the Philippines we have law which help protect students from
bullying it is “The Anti-Bullying Act 10627” that aims to protect children
enrolled in kindergarten and learning centers (collectively, “School”)
from being bullied. There are various types of bulling; First is CYBER
BULLYING, can be overt or covert bullying behaviours using digital
technologies including hardware such as computer and smartphones,
messaging, texts, websites and other online platforms. Second,
PHYSICAL BULLYING includes hitting, kicking, tripping, pinching and
pushing or damaging property. Third is VERBAL BULLYING, includes
name calling, insults, teasing, intimidation, homophobic or racist
remarks, or verbal abuse. Fourth is SOCIAL BULLYING, sometimes
referred to as covert bullying, is often harder to recognize and can be
carried out behind the bullied person’s back. It is designed to harm
someone’s social reputation and or cause humiliation.
But why did people intended to bully?
People bully for different reasons. Those who bully persistently
are likely to do so in order to dominate others and improve their social
status. They may have high self-esteem, show little regret for their
bullying behavior and not see bullying as morally wrong. Other people
may bully out of anger or frustration, they may struggle socially and
could have also been victims of bullying.
To summarize everything, I've stated, bullying is an action
intended to cause physical or emotional harm to another person. It can
take the form of physical, verbal, social, online, or other forms of
bullying. Bullying impacts someone's mental health and can result in
anxiety, despair, or even worse, suicide, therefore people shouldn't
treat it like a joke.
