Excess Flow Valves for LPG Systems

This document provides specifications for excess flow valves for a liquid petroleum gas system. The valves are 3" flanged valves designed to close when the flow rate exceeds 500 gallons per minute from the normal operating condition to prevent uncontrolled release from storage vessels. The valves will have carbon steel bodies and stainless steel internals to handle liquid service at 154 psig and an ambient temperature with a specific gravity of 0.53 to 0.57 for the liquid media.
