Auditory Pathway PDF

The auditory pathway begins with hair cells in the inner ear that detect sound vibrations. Auditory nerve fibers carry signals from these hair cells to the cochlear nuclei in the brainstem. Signals then cross to the opposite side and travel to nuclei in the midbrain before reaching the medial geniculate body of the thalamus. Finally, fibers project from the medial geniculate body to the primary auditory cortex in the temporal lobe of the cerebral cortex to interpret sounds.
