(ELICIT)
2.the teacher will ask the learner to describe the picture.
The picture was a water fountain.
It is similar to an erupting volcano
D.Discussing the Activity “What I know about the different types of
new concepts and volcano”
practicing new
Tell students that they will be watching a video about different
skills
style of volcanic eruption, remind them to observe and
(ENGAGE) understand what they are watching and later on they will
identify what type of eruption it is.
Subject Integration (Filipino)
Expected answers:

After that they will be asked different question:
Guide Question:
1. What do you think is the video about?
2. Are there different shape of volcano cone showed??

concepts and
practicing new 1.The learner will be group into 5 based on their cleaners the learners will go to their respective group, choose a leader to guide
skills and let them discuss what are the things they had observe
in the picture given. them in the entire activity.
(EXPLORE) The leader will assign every member in the respective roles.
2.one representative will present their work.

F. Developing Let the learners present their output. One presenter will present their out put
mastery (Leads to
Formative
Assessment) Presenting following concepts
(EXPLAIN) (Pictures and videos will be provided to the learners for
deeper familiarization and visualization)
Volcanoes erupt differently. which generally classified as
wet or dry depending on the magma’s water content.
Volcanoes are described according to the style of eruption
Types of volcanic eruption:
a. Phreatic or hydrothermal -is a stream -driven Learners are expected to listen
eruption as the hot rocks come in contact with
And actively participating by sharing their thoughts about the topic
water .it is short lived, characterized by ash
columns but may be onset of a larger eruption .
Ex. Taal Volcano in Batangas
b. Phreatomagmatic – is a violent eruption due to
the contact between water and magma. As a result
a large column of very fine ash and high speed and
side way emission of pyro plastics called base
surges are observe
Ex: Irazu Volcano
c. Strombolian -these are eruption that are
moderately explosive of basaltic magma wit
moderate gas content. It consist of intermittent,
discrete explosive burst which eject pyro clasts as
high as hundreds of feet into the air in firework
like
d. Vulcanian – characterized by tall eruption
columns that reached up to 20km high with
pyroclastic flow and ashfall tephra.
Ex: Paricutin volcano in Mexico
e. Plinian - excessively explosive type of eruption
of gas and pyroclastic.
Ex: Pinatubo Volcano in Zambales
Now that we had tackled about the different style of
volcanic eruption let’s proceed on classifying volcanoes
by their cone
Pictures will be provided in the different types
There are three types of volcanic cones:
a. Shield volcanoes- they are formed by the
accumulation of lava that oozes out from the volcano.
This type of volcano name for its low profile,
resembling a warriors shields lying on the ground. It
is formed by the eruption of highly fluid lava, which
travels farther and forms thinner flows than the more
viscous lava erupted from a stratovolcano .
b. Cinder cones – it is the simplest type of volcano.
They are built from particles and blobs of congealed
lava ejected from a single vent. They have a steep
slope, wide crater, and are the most abundant among
the three major types of volcanoes.
c. Composite cones- also known as stratovolcano are
large, nearly perfect structure formed from alternate
solidification of both lava and pyroclastic deposits.
Ex. Mayon volcano
d.
G.Finding practical Group Activity “ Artistic Marites “
applications of
concepts and skills The teacher will provide the material needed for the class.
in daily living The learners are going to craft a types of volcano that has been discussed based on the
(ELABORATE) characteristic of the different types of volcanoes
H. Making why do volcanoes have different types it is because of the process of magma formation is different at
generalizations and
abstractions about each type of plate boundaries, therefore the composition of magma
the lesson
differs in each tectonic setting.
I. Evaluating Directions : in a ½ sheet of paper answer the following
Learning
True or false Answer
(EVALUATE)
1. Shield volcanoes have the least violent eruptions 1. False
that stratovolcanoes and cinder cones volcanoes 2. False
2. Stratovolcanoes or composite volcanoes look 3. True
almost flat and broad like warriors shield. 4. False
3. Composite volcanoes often releases magma with 5. False
high silica content 6. False
4. Shield volcano are the most common volcano in 7. True
the world. 8. True
5. Taal volcano is an example of composite volcano 9. False
6. A volcano with a depleted supply of magma and 10. True
which is not likely to erupt again is classified as an
active volcano.
7. The higher the silica content of a magma the
higher its viscosity
8. Mt. Mayon is the most active volcano in the
Philippines
9. Taal. Volcano is an example of composite
volcano.
10. The silica content of the magma mainly
determines the explosiveness of volcano
J. Additional Activity : In a short bond paper draw an image of a type
activities for of volcano depending on a style of its eruption. Describe
application for your drawing.
