Tutorial

Ellyza Torio conducted an online tutorial on multiplying whole numbers by decimal numbers. She taught the student how to properly place the decimal point in products involving decimals. The student showed initial proficiency in multiplying whole numbers but struggled with decimals. Through examples, practice problems, and pictorial models, the student's understanding and skills improved over the course of the lesson. By the end, the student felt more confident in multiplying decimals and solving real-world math problems involving decimals.

SUMMARY REPORT

Pangasinan State University

Pangasinan State University
Region’s Premier University of Choice
At the beginning of our session, we had a drill to assess her knowledge in
multiplying numbers. The learner already knows how to multiply whole numbers.
She showed a good ability in solving but she is quite slow. She lacks technique in
solving. Before starting our lesson, I explained the difference between decimal
numbers and whole numbers. After she showed understanding on this concept, we
proceed in multiplying decimals by whole numbers. I taught her the proper way of
putting the decimal in the product. After giving her 5 examples, I gave her a 10-
item activity. She was able to finish it within the given time. Right after her activity,
we then proceed to problem-solving that involves multiplication of decimals and
whole numbers. Aside from the typical solving style, we also used pictorial models
to solve the problem.

Date: April 10, 2022
Time 10:00am-12:00nn
OBJECTIVES
 Define each element of the story
 Identify the elements in a given story
 Write a plot of a story
 Write summary of a story

STRATEGIES
 Explicit Teaching
 Problem-based Learning
 Instructional Scaffolding
 Constructivism

SUMMARY REPORT
The tutorial session started asking my student’s idea about our lesson and
supplemented it. I then proceed in introducing the different concept. Right after the
discussion of the concepts, I introduced the story that we are going to analyze. I let
her read it aloud first for me to assess her reading skills and she is good and has a
good pronunciation. Next, I asked her understanding about the story she read.
After sharing her understanding we then proceed to our main activity, Identifying
the different elements of the story. She was able to answer the common elements
such as the character and setting. In creating the plot and summary, she still
needs my guidance to be able to construct it properly. She showed understanding
and knowledge on how to create this, but it still needs improvement. To be able to
attain our target objective, I gave her another story to analyze, and she was able to
do it correctly.

SUMMARY REPORT
For the start of our session, we had a drill from our first session. The learner
showed that she already mastered multiplying decimal numbers by whole number.
She remembered the steps in multiplying and knows where to put the decimal
point. After the drill, we proceed to our new lesson, estimating product of decimal
numbers. First, I asked her ideas in estimating numbers and supplemented her
stock knowledge. After further explanation in this concept and the learner exhibit
understanding we proceed to our main lesson. After solving simple equation, we
moved on in solving word problems involving estimation of product of decimal
numbers.

Date: April 30, 2022 DAY 4
Time 9:00am-11:00nn
OBJECTIVES
 Identify parts of a Circle
 Solve circumference of a Circle
 Solve problems involving circumference of a circle

SUMMARY REPORT
At the beginning of the session, I asked the learner about her previous lesson
that includes perimeter of different polygons. After that, I stated that circle also has
its perimeter, and it is called as circumference. I also explained that circle has
parts, and it can be a diameter or radius instead of length and width. I also
introduce the pi (3.14) and showed the symbol used for it. After understanding the
concepts, I the showed her the formula in solving circumference when diameter is
given. I let her discover the formula when radius is given. With further explanation
she was able to arrive with the proper formula. I then gave her a 10-item activity.
She was able to solve all the given item correctly. After this, we proceed to our
next lesson, solving word problems involving circumference of a circle. I gave her
a 5-item activity to assess her learning.
