Jose Rizal remains to be one of, if not the most, renowned heroes of this country.

His
life and legacy paved the way for the future of this country. From his birth up until his death,
his journey has been filled with unexpected surprises. With many allies and enemies, Jose
Rizal’s life was certainly an interesting ride with many ups and downs. Born to a wealthy
family with numerous siblings, he grew up happy with the adoration and love from his
parents and siblings.

In the 19th century, many events happened that greatly affected the Philippines and
the family of Rizal at that time. Mainly it focuses on how the Filipino people adapted the
rules before. There's a huge influence of society on the character of the person. For example,
the event that happened during the 19th century has a big contribution to the ambitions and
dreams of Rizal. The happenings, like the ascendance of the Chinese mestizos, positively
affect the economy.

Rizal’s school life showed the disparity and the gap between Filipinos with privilege
and the pure-blooded Spanish families. That and the worsening condition of his mother
inspired him to deepen his knowledge and experience by traveling the world and meeting key
individuals that eventually helped him grow as a person and finding allies to help him solve
the problem which is the continuing rule of the Spanish. As a student travelling the world,
Rizal was bound to learn other skills and hobbies that come with his encounters with certain
people along his journey. He always learned how to improve his writing skills and try to
incorporate different genres into his works.

By creating Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo, he challenged the Spanish

government and the Catholic church, along with igniting the flames deep within his
countrymen. His works remain to be an inspiration and a message of what is to be done and
how we must act upon the injustices that threaten to destroy or trample our lives.

In Rizal's point of view, he does want a change for his country. He is a patriot and ambitious
to his motherland so, he thought that maybe in his writings like publishing a book full of truth
about the rulings of Spaniards can change what he and his fellow Filipinos experienced at
that time. Even though his social status is stable, he did not forget or turned his back to his
fellow Filipinos. Even though he did not join the KKK or the plan of Andres Bonifacio, he
found a way of exposing the truth. I think what Rizal experienced before made him who he is
as our national hero today. He may not fight through a sword, but he fought through a pen.
Until now, his works are alive due to Rizal Law, it keeps the history to be passed to the
younger generation. It allows them to know what is the truth and events that happened in
three-hundred thirty-three years of Spanish colonisation. Due to his love for his country, he
sacrificed his own life for the freedom he wanted his fellow Filipino to experience. He wants
to stop the sufferings of the Filipino people under the colonisers. Their freedom was stolen
from them, and to be captive for so long that Rizal and other heroes planned to make a
change, and they succeeded in the end.

The group created the project on how we were able to show Rizal's life and work be
applied to the present reality. There are also a lot of comparisons mentioned regarding how
symbolisms and issues were portrayed from his books that are still happening today. A lot of
Filipino know how Rizal's life of Rizal is always remembered, especially for the youth who
are in succession of the country's success. For our project, we highlighted the most important
parts, other than what is known, and share what we have discovered. We also included some
important events that were discussed during the module discussions and gave more detailed
information to it to make it more interesting. Furthermore, we acknowledge every source we
researched from the internet, media and literary works so that there will be a broader and
interesting idea to elaborate.c

Through our magazine, we were able to showcase and explain how Dr. Jose Rizal
made an impact on our society. His work was dated a long time ago but it is still relevant up
to this day. Through our magazine, we explained how Rizal lived and made waves
throughout the generations even after his death.
