METHOD STATEMENT FOR WET AREA WATERPROOFING
SUBSTRATE REQUIREMENTS:
It must be free from dust, oil, and grease, dry and free from any rising damp, with no loose, flaky,
or imperfectly anchored parts.
Substrate must be stable and without cracks, must have already completed curing hygrometric
shrinkage.
Paints and varnishes must be removed before the application of waterproofing.
When working on weakened parts like shuttering correction, undulations or parts of the substrate
missing and also in the case of gravel beds, the substrate must be restored with suitable products
like Geolite Magma, Non-Shrink Mortar or PMM (1 part Aquastop P6: 5 Part Cement: 15 Part
River sand by weight followed with at least 7 days of curing)
A crack or exposed bar areas to be opened up till shallow depth and filled with suitable finishing
products like Geolite Gel.
PVC pipe that has been cast into the concrete must be treated around the circumference by cutting
a shallow opening and fill the same with geolite gel.
PROVIDING AND INJECTING, POLYURTHENE BASED INJECTION GROUT WITH PUMP
UNDER-PRESSURE AT ALL CONSTRUCTION JOINTS, MAJOR CRACKS/WORKING
CRACKS OR WHEREVER REQUIRED.
SUBSTRATE PREPARATION:
Clean dirt, dust, loose fragments, and remove laitance, paints, or varnishes.
The most suitable cleaning methods are sandblasting mechanical scarification or pressurized jet
washing.
Grind the substrate, if needed.
Making pond test up to 48 hours for checking leakages in bare slab
Damp the substrate to SSD condition (saturated surface dry condition) such that no stagnant water
on substrate.

TREATMENT FOR CORNERS:
Mix Aquastop Flex in a clean container with a proportion of Part A: Part B = 3:1 mixed by jiffy paddle
mixer/helicoidally agitator.
Apply a layer of the mixture on a RCC and Brick wall joint or perimeter joints with a synthetic fiber
brush and fix Aquastop 120 by pressing firmly on the freshly applied mixture.
SAME TAPING TREATMENT SHOULD BE DONE OVER THE CONSTRUCTION JOINT (If any).
TREATMENT FOR OPENINGS AND CORE CUTTINGS (If any):
Clean dirt, dust around, and in the slab depth before fixing a pipe.
Damp the surface with water.
Mix Geolite magma in a bucket containing water (3.8 liters of clean water for 25 kg pack) or PMM
(Cement mortar admixed with Aquastop P6) as per requirement.
Fix the pipe in core and fill the 2/3rd of slab depth from the exposed area with Geolite magma or
Non shrink mortar and wait for 12 hrs. to dry.
Mix Geolite Gel in bucket 3: 1 Kg by jiffy paddle mixer from the bottom upwards.
Fill and press this mixture of Geolite gel on balance depth of slab i.e. 1/3rd of slab depth to
surrounding pipe and ensure no voids between concrete surface and pipe.
(After application wait for a minimum duration of 12 hrs. to dry and then start waterproofing
application)

PREPARATION AQUASTOP FLEX -
Mix the Aquastop Flex in a clean container with a proportion of Part A: Part B = 3:1 mixed by jiffy
paddle mixer/helicoidally agitator.
Mixing the paste from the bottom upwards with a low-rev (≈ 400/min) agitator.
The mixture must be of smooth consistency and without any lumps.
BEFORE COMMENCEMENT OF WATERPROOFING COATING WORK, DAMP THE SUBSTRATE
WITH WATER TO SSD CONDITION (SURFACE SATURATED DRY)
APPLICATION OF AQUASTOP FLEX WATERPROOFING SYSTEM
Aquastop Flex must be applied with a brush/plain trowel on a previously prepared substrate.
Apply the first coat about 1 mm thick, pressing down to ensure maximum adhesion to the surface.
Once the product is hardened, apply the second coat in a crisscross direction as compared with the
first coat of Aquastop Flex. ( Wait for atmospheric curing )
The maintained average thickness of Aquastop Flex should be more than 1.5- 2 mm
WAIT FOR MINIMUM 7 DAYS TO SELF CURE THE AQUASTOP FLEX MEMBRANE
TEST FOR WATER TIGHTNESS:
Do pond test for 7 days to check leakage as per IS 3370 part 1
PROTECTION SCREED AND PLASTER:
Providing and finishing 20 to 25 mm thick protective layer of 1:4 Cement mortar added with non-
shrink additive such as Aquastop P6 (10-30 % of the weight of cement) to horizontal surface &
further smooth finish/rough finish depending on the scope of work
To provide cement plaster 15 - 20 mm thickness on the entire periphery of sidewalls as per detail
in 1: 4 CM with non-shrink additives such as Aquastop P6 or equivalent admixture with smooth
cement float finish.
MINIMUM 7 DAYS OF CURING AS PER IS 456: 2000

Drain Slope Enhancement with BRICK BAT COBA & IPS FINISH (If Necessary)
To lay Brick Bat Coba as per ridge slope diagram using Brick Bats in C: M, 1:4 cement mortar using
integral waterproofing compound or any non-shrink additive with the slope with average 110 mm
thickness including finishing the top of the Coba in smooth IPS broom finish to receive further tile
finishing.
The first coat of Brick Bat Coba to be cured for seven days followed by filling of joints with cement
mortar followed by finishing coat of rich C: M 1:4 with neat cement ghutai with a broom finish.
7 days of water curing of finished coba.
INSTALLATION OF VITRIFIED TILES:
Dampening the substrate with water.
Add Kerakoll adhesive in bucket containing water (7 to 8 liters of clean water for 25 kg pack) then
mixed by jiffy paddle mixer from bottom upwards.
Ensure there is no lumps and homogeneous even colored mixture.
Apply sufficient even layer of adhesive on substrate with suitable notched trowel by keeping ribs
of adhesive in single direction.
Also apply a thin layer of adhesive directly over rear surface of ceramics for maximum wettability.
Press the ceramics on freshly applied adhesive on substrate.
Tamp over all surface area of ceramics with rubber hammer. (Tamp from center to outwards and
ensure there is no entrapped air in adhesive bedding)
Check periodically wettability of adhesive by removing ceramics and ensure full coverage.
CLEAN SPACER JOINTS IMMEDIATELY TO AVOID EFFORTS WHILE GROUTING.
SPACER JOINT SHOULD BE COMPLETELY DRY PRIOR COMMENCEMNT OF GROUTING.
GROUTING IN TILES:
Clean spacers to whole thickness such that no dirt, plastic spacers, foreign matter or excess
adhesive and then bring original texture/shine by cleaning with wet cloth using detergent water.
Fill the joints with a suitable grout or joint filler until they are completely filled.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
Spacer Joints - Provide spacers of 2-5 mm for surrounding each covering to allow thermal stress
produced by covering and substrate material, then fill with Fugalite Eco.
Isolation joint: Provide an isolation joint of width 10 mm at each change in direction, wall to wall
joint and floor to wall junction to avoid rigid connection then fill with Fugabella Eco Silicone.
Cover the Aquastop Flex membrane by tiling with providing spacer joints (minimum 2 mm) and filled
with Fugalite Bio
At all horizontal and vertical corners (change in direction/floor to wall/wall to wall), provide at least
10 mm space and then filled with suitable sealant Fugabella eco silicone / Nanosil eco.
Provide a minimum 20- 25 mm protection Screed or plaster on the waterproofing membrane to
avoid any external damage from other agencies.
Don’t mix screed directly on the membrane.
To avoid shrinkage cracks, add integral admixture/suitable additives to the screed material.
Pipes, electric points, and stair points embedded in final finishing must be filled with sealant
Fugabella eco silicone / Nanosil eco.
For long term durability cover the plaster or screed with tile or epoxy coating or any type of food
grade paints or primer.
NOTE:
1. The available substrate must be 28 days old with completed hygrometric shrinkage
2. Always complete waterproofing application first on the vertical wall then on the floor to avoid
footprints.
3. Adhesive and waterproofing products need to be mixed only by an electrically operated mixer with
the proper ratio of water indicated on the packaging.
4. The use of mechanical mixers for all products makes ideal mixing and achieves defined
performance.
5. Do not add excess water in any product than recommended on the packaging.
6. Post mixing all polymer modified products wait for 5 minutes, and re-stir to disperse active polymers
in solution.
7. For Geolite Gel, if the ratio of mixing is incorrect, the product will not dry/sets earlier depends on
the ratio of hardener used.
8. After completion of job, if membrane needs to be a break for installing any stairs supporting
member/any corrections, fill Geolite Gel.
