Activity Type Introduction

Speaking Activity: role- Here is a fun restaurant role-play to help students practice
play, communicative ordering food and drink.

Procedure
Before you begin the activity, pre-teach or review restaurant
Focus
language with the class.
Ordering food and drink
Next, divide the students into groups of three.
Restaurant language
One student takes on the role of a waiter and the other two
students are customers.
Aim
To role-play ordering food Arrange the chairs and tables to look like a restaurant.

Give each waiter two menus and a role card. One menu is for
the customers and one is kept by the waiter to calculate the bill.
Preparation Waiters also need a pen and paper for taking orders.

At the end of the role-play, ask the customers to give marks out
of ten for the waiters.

You may wish to have the students repeat the role-play two
more times to give each student practice at being the waiter.

There's no white wine left.

You aren't very good at mathematics. Make a small mistake on the bill.
