1. Nicanor Abelardo –
- He was able to compose his first composition entitled “Ang Unang Buko” which was
dedicated to his grandmother.

3. Lucio San Pedro
- was a composer, conductor and a teacher.
- Musical philosophy was described in his composition.
- He had written masses, hymns, choral works, songs for solo voices, chamber and orchestral
music, incidental music, and background music for movies.

4. Antonio Molina
- was a composer, conductor, teacher, and a violinist.
- His style of composition used whole-tone and pentatonic scale, chords of ninth and eleventh,
and linear counterpoint.
- He was known as the Claude Debussy of the Philippines.

5. Hilarion Rubio
- A composer, conductor, clarinetist, timpanist and a teacher.
- He played clarinet with the Bacoor band and composed his first musical composition when he
was 8 years old.

6. Rodolfo Cornejo
- A pianist/organist, conductor, and composer.
- As a gifted musician, at an early age he was able to write his first composition, “Glissando
Waltz”
- He founded and directed the Manila Conservatory of Music.
7. Ryan Cayabyab
- A teacher, composer, arranger, conductor, pianist, producer, and musical director.
- Established a music school, the Ryan Cayabyab Music Studio.
- Currently the executive director of the Philpop MusicFest Foundation Inc.
- He is known as the “Maestro” or “The Mr. C” of the Philippines.

Photography and Filmmaking
Camera – is a lightproof object with a lens that captures incoming light and directs the light and resulting
image toward film or imaging device.
Film – is a thin flexible strip of plastic or other material coated with light-sensitive emulsion for exposure
in a camera used to produce photographs or motion pictures.
Photography used because of the following reasons:
as a medium of news and information about the colony,
as a tool for tourism,
as an instrument for anthropology,
as a means for asserting social status,
as an implement for historical documentation,
as a device for communication
as materials for propaganda, and
and as source of ideas for illustrations and engravings.
Eduardo Masferre
- known as the Father of Photography

- established the first known actively operational photo studio.
- popular producer of commercial visiting cards and aesthetic picture portraits.
Felix Laureano
- one of the first photographers of Filipino nationality.
- His pictorial compositions were En el Baño and Cuadrilleros.
- Focuses on human forms, cockfights, and bullfights in the Philippines.
- First photographer to publish a book of photographs about Philippines called Recuerdos de
Filipinas.
- Known as the First Filipino Photographer.
George Tapan
- Is a well-known award-winning travel photographer.
- Won two Pacific Asia Tourism Association Gold Awards.
John Chua
- Is a remarkable seasoned advertising and commercial photographer with more than forty
years of experience in Philippine photography industry.
Jose Nepomuceno
- Known as the Father of Philippine Movies
- First Filipino who made a moving picture.
