1869 - 1870 June 1869 - Paciano brought Jose to the School of Maestro

Justiniano Aquino Cruz Jose challenged the class bully, Pedro to a


fight. Andres Salandanan, Jose's classmate, challenged him to an arm-
wrestling match but Jose lost because of his weaker arm. Jose Rizal had
his first lessons in painting through an old painter named Juancho.

December 17, 1870 - Jose Rizal left Biñan aboard the


steamer 'Talim'

January 20, 1872 - Cavite mutiny under Sgt. Lamadrid


happened but suppressed 2 days later.

February 17, 1872 - the three priests Mariano Gomez, Jose


Burgos, and Jacinto Zamora was executed by garrote under
the orders of Governor-General Izquierdo because of false
accusations connected to the Cavite Mutiny.

May 1872 - Doña Teodora Alonzo was arrested due


to a malicious charge.
June 10, 1872 - Paciano accompanied Jose and
went to Manila.

June 1872 - Rizal's first day of classes in Ateneo


Municipal.

March 1873 - Rizal returned to Calamba for an


uneventful summer vacation.

March 1874 - Rizal returned to Calamba for a


vacation happily after receiving schastic honors.

April 1874 - Rizal began to take interest in


reading romantic novels. His first favorite novel
was The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexander
Dumas.
June 1874 - Rizal returned ro Ateneo for his
junior year. And his mother Teodora was
released from prison after 2 and a half years.

June 1874 - Rizal wrote his first poem in


Ateneo titled "Mi Primera Inspiracion"

June 2, 1876 - Rizal finished the requested


religious drama titled "San Eustacio, Martir"
and submitted it to Father Sanchez.

June 16, 1875 - Rizal was became


an interno in Ateneo.

June 1876 - Rizal returned to Manila


for his last year in Ateneo.
April 1877 - Rizal entered University of Santo
Tomas taking the course on Philosophy and
Letters.

1879 - Rizal submitted his poem titled "A La


Juventud Filipina" to the Liceo Artistico-
Literario and won the first prize.

December 8, 1879 - Manuel Fernandez


declaimed Rizal's poem titled "Abd-el-Azis y
Mahoma"

1880 - Rizal submitted his allegorical drama


titled "El Consejo de los Dioses" to the Liceo
Artistico Literario and won the first prize.

December 8, 1880 - Ateneans performed


Rizal's zarzuela titled "Junto al Pasig"
May 1881 - Rizal went on a pilgrimage to shrine
of Birhen Maria de los Dolores in Pakil along
with her sisters, Saturnina, Maria, Trinidad and
their friends.

1882 - after finishing the fourth year of his


medical course, Rizal decided to study in Spain
without seeking his parents' permission. Only
Paciano, Saturnina and Lucia knew his plan

May 3, 1882 Rizal left Manila for


Singapore onboard the steamer
Salvadora.

May 9, 1882 - the Salvadora docked at


Singapore and Rizal registered at Hotel
de la Paz.

May 11, 1882 - Rizal left Singapore


to Europe aboard the ship Djemnah.
May 17, 1882 - the Djemnah reached Port
Galle in Ceylon (now Sri Lanka).

June 11, 1882 - Rizal reached Naples.

June 12, 1882 - The steamer Djemnah


docked at the harbor of Marseilles and
Rizal visited the famous Chateau d'If.

June 15 1882 - Rizal left Marseilles for


Barcelona by train. He crissed the Pyrenees
and stopped for a day at Port-Bou.

June 16, 1882 - Rizal reached


Barcelona by train from Port-Bou.
