1. Ifa foresees child bearing for him/her, Ifa says there is a woman, Ifa warns her
not to marry any man of the same town, village etc. So that she may have
children as soon as possible.
Ebo: Hen 4, Rooster 4, Eyele 4, Owo
Ifa: Hen, Ewure, Rat 4, Fish 4, Pig

Dia fun Aferemojo
O nsunkun omo lo sode Egba
Nile alake nitori omo

Meaning:
“Ponlawiri ponlawir (name of a sage)
Cast Ifa fun Aferemojo (Animal)
When she was crying to Egba for not having a child
She was asked to make ebo
She complied
Pig always begeth multiple children
Pig is known to begeth multiple children”
Story:
Aferemojo was barren for some years. She had married many men in
her village to the extent that no one wanted to marry her again; it was
because of this she went to Awo, who told her that she is not destined to
marry in her village, but she should go far from the place to a place she
is not known. She complied and was blessed with many children.
2. Ifa foresees victory, Ifa says he/she should make ebo and feed Eegungun
(Ancestral spirits).
Ebo: Ada (cutlass) 2, He-goat 2, money
Eegungun: Cutlass, he-goat, rooster etc.

Toun Efuru (load on Eegun)

Eyin o ri ori Efuru lori eegun kere”
Meaning:
“White chalk producers are always happy.
Casted Ifa for Eegungun
And Efuru
When they were both enemies of each other
They were advised to make ebo
It was only Eegun that made the ebo
Behold my people
Come and see the head of Efuru on Eegun”.
Story:
Eegungun and Efuru were long standing enemies. How to overcome
Efuru has always been a problem for Eegun, because of this he went to
seek the service of Awo, who asked him to make ebo and feed his head.
He complied.
One day Esu asked Eegun to beheaded Efuru, Eegun complied. Esu
asked Eegun to be carrying the head all about. Eegun complied. Efuru
is the tray on the head of Eegun.
3. Ifa foresees long life for this person, Ifa says, the person should make ebo. Ifa
says this person has a flowing gown, Ifa says the person should be wearing it
after Isefa has been made onto it.
Ebo: He-goat, Rooster, Pigeon, Money
Isefa: The Iye that was made ebo with shall be sprinkle on the flowing gown
and wear.
“O ri reku-reku
Bi abuke fehin se eyele
Dia fun Baba-Elewu japati
O tile orun row aye
Won ni ko rubo – O rubo
Kiku (etc) ma pa baba elewu japati – Erigialo”
Meaning:
“If looks diminutive
As if a hunch-back protect a pigeon
Cast Ifa for Baba-Elewu Japati (man with flowing gown)
When he was coming to this world from heaven
He was asked to make ebo – He complied
May death (etc) not kill Baba-Elewu Japati, Erigialo”.
Story:
Baba-Elewu-Japati wanted to come to this world from heaven, he has
been hearing of people of this world about their misdemeanour. This
made him to seek Ifa advice and Ifa told him to make ebo and always
wear his flowing gown as protection. He complied.
4. Ifa foresees break through for the person. Ifa says some people have been a
clog on the person way of progress. Ifa advices the person to make ebo and
feed his/her ancestors with rams. Ifa advices that by doing this regularly, the
person shall be having success all the way.
Ebo: Ram (Agbo) 2, Rooster, Pigeon, Money
Ancestor: Ram, Kolanut, Gin
“Oturupon lawiri
Ile igbin gba igbin
Odede ahun o gbolojo miran
Awo Erin dia fun Erin
O nlo goke baba re
Pere la r’erin
Erin ma ti goke alo”.
Meaning:
Oturupon lawiri (name of a sage)
The shell of a snail is mainly for snail
Whilst no one shares the shell of Tortoise with it
The sage of Erin (Elephan) made Ifa for Elephant
When people denied Elephant of its inheritance
No one knows how Elephant got inheritance”
N.B
It is a taboo to pay obedience before
(1) one learn or recite the Odu if it is revealed.
(2) Whenever this Odu is revealed either by Ikin or Opele.
The whole Ikin or Opele must be thrown in the water or thrown outside if
water is not around before the Babalawo starts to recite it.
