Past Simple
1. Past simple: TO BE
was/wasn’t, were/weren’t
1. I was late.
2. Mike and John were at the park.
3. My dad wasn’t at work today, he is sick.
4. The children weren’t happy because they couldn’t play.
 Questions: we put was/were in front of the person
Were Mike and John at the park?
2. Past simple: REGULAR VERBS
-> we add -ED at the end
work -> worked
! Spelling rules
R1: we add -D: use -> used
R2: consonant + y, we change Y->I and add -ED
cry -> cried
R3: for short verbs and end in CVC we double the last letter
and add -ED
plan - > planned
 Negative: didn’t + verb
He worked in an office.
He didn’t work in an office.
 Questions: did + person + verb
Did he work in an office?
3. Past simple: IRREGULAR VERBS
-> on the book: pg 142-143 a list of verbs
-> past simple is the 2nd column
go -> went see -> saw
 Negative: didn’t + verb
We went to the cinema.
We didn’t go to the cinema.
 Questions: Did you go to the cinema?
When did you go there?
Homework: de invatat verbele pag 142-143
do - did - done = a face
