Normal Prenatal Visit Schedule

Initial Visit
CBC, Blood type, Pap smear (if >21 yrs old), Gonorrhea, Chlamydia, HIV,
Urine culture, Rubella, HbsAg, RPR,
Physical & breast exam
Immunizations: PPD, Td (+/-, give only p 20 weeks)
Begin prenatal vitamins
Routine Care:
0-26/28 weeks: Q 4 weeks
22/28-36 weeks: Q 2 weeks
36-40 weeks: Q 1 week
Each Visit:
EGA (Estimated Gestational Age), B/P, Weight, Fundal height (after 20
wks), fetal heart tones with a Doppler (after 12 weeks), urine dip for
glucose & protein, assess for edema and s/s of preterm labor
(contractions, vaginal bleeding, leakage of fluid), fetal movement (after 20
weeks)
16-18 Weeks
MSAFP

18-20Weeks
Ultrasound for fetal anatomy & placental location (~18 wks)

26 Weeks
1 hour Glucose Tolerance Test (24-28 wks)
CBC or H&H
Repeat RPR (26-28wks)

28 Weeks
RhoGam (if Rh-)
Kick Counts (if high risk pregnancy)
PTL Education
Lactation Counseling

36 Weeks
Fetal kick counts (begin ~34wks in normal pregnancy)
H&H, Gonorrhea, Chlamydia, Group Beta Strep (GBS)
Labor education

40-41 Weeks
Assess fetal wellbeing by:
Nonstress Test (NST) q2x/week
Ultrasound with Biophysical Profile (BPP) with Amniotic Fluid Index q wk
Consider Delivery
