RT System 2 Documents Guide

This document provides a list, part number, and summary of the documents that
are available for the RT System 2 Central Recording System.

Table 1–1 List of Available Documents

Documents Guide 90-0026 This document.

Operator Guide 90-0027 The RT System 2 Operator Guide provides detailed


instructions on how to use the RT 1000 Central Recording
System user interface. Sections include the following:
• Getting Started – Provides a definition of the audience
for the document and a high-level overview of the
workflow steps.
• Prospects – Describes how to create, open,
automatically open, close, delete, activate, or deactivate
a prospect.
• Parameters – Provides an overview of thresholds,
parameters, default settings, and how to work with
parameter sets.

• Surveys – Provides instructions on loading or importing


surveys, exporting survey information, and importing a
serial number file.
• Spread Management – Describes working with the
spread map, icons used, using layers to control the
spread map view, available right-click menus, and
importing and exporting connectivity data.
• Lines – Provides instructions for creating and forming
line segments, working with the LIU, Receiver Points,
Ground Equipment, and Telemetry tables, how to
change the operating mode, and using the global
deploy/undeploy command. Provides an overview of the
WRU and LIU Details tables.

• Tests – Describes the BIST tests available, and how to


create, save, copy, delete, and run tests. Discusses BIST
results and how to work with the Tests Table.
• Shot-Based Acquisition – Provides instructions on
setting up source points and firing a shot. Describes
working with the Source Queue Manager, Seismic Data
Output Table, and Source Points Table. Provides
instructions on how to create Receiver Templates.
• Continuous Acquisition – Provides instructions on how
to acquire data continuously without stopping.
• Vibroseis – Provides instructions on creating and
working with dynamic and stored pilot signals. Describes
correlation, stacking, Pelton source messaging, and
vibrator similarity.
• Data – Provides information on the using the Seismic
Data Output Table, Managing seismic data files, and
backing up and restoring the database.
• Reports – Describes how to create and export report
data.

Installation Guide 90-0028 The RT System 2 Installation Guide provides instructions on


installing and updating software and firmware.
Sections include the following:
• Overview – Provides a document overview, defines the
audience, and describes how to get help.
• Layout – Describes how to prepare (mobilization) and
layout (install) the recording truck equipment.
• RT System 2 Computer Hardware – Describes how to
prepare a computer for RT System 2 Central System
Software installation.
• RT System 2 Computer Software – Describes how to
install and upgrade software and firmware.
• License Management – Describes how to request,
load, and view license information, and how to find the
Mac address of a computer.
• RT System 2 Firmware – Describes how to update the
firmware in the ground equipment using the RT System
2 Central System Software.
• TeamViewer – Describes how to install and configure
TeamViewer.

Deployment Guide 90-0018 The RT System 2 Deployment Guide provides instructions


on deploying the ground equipment.
Sections include the following:
• Overview – Provides a document overview, defines the
audience, and describes how to get help.
• Layout – Describes how to prepare for and deploy the
ground equipment (WRU, LIU, geophone, backhaul, and
source encoder)

• Backhaul – Provides a list of equipment, describes how


to configure the radios, describes how to set up the
equipment, and shows a few example deployments.

• Demobilization – Describes how to undeploy and


remove the equipment from the field.

status and error indicators for WRUs and BSUs.
• Weighted Base – Provides the specifications and
installation instructions.
• Using a Compass – Provides instructions on using a
sighting compass.
• Rope Knot – Provides instructions on tying a taut-line
hitch knot.

System Description 90-0029 The RT System 2 System Description provides a high-level


overview of the central recording system hardware and
software.

Seismic Viewer Guide 90-0030 The RT System 2 Seismic Viewer Guide provides instructions
on how to view SEG-Y file data.
• Using the Seismic Viewer – Describes how to open,
close and manipulate the view of the content of a SEG-Y
file.
• Icon Reference – Provides a graphic and description of
all of the icons used in the Seismic Viewer software.
• Filtering Example – Provides an example of how using
a bandpass filter affects the view of a SEG-Y file.

Troubleshooting Guide 90-0039 The RT System 2 Troubleshooting Guide provides


instructions on how to solve common problems.
• Best Practices – Provides tips and tricks on setting up
and using the system and equipment.
• Troubleshooting – Lists common problems and
suggested solutions.
• Additional Information – Provides additional
information and instructions on antennas, data errors,
discipline mode, Find, tips when trying to form a line
segments, finding the correct geodetic coordinate
system, requesting logs, correcting survey errors,
testing the geophone, and tips on network connections.
