2. Handling Precaution

2.1 Creating of connection diagram (UM01-A□A4E: Two-VT, 3-phase 3-wire/4-wire system)

● Use CT’s of XXX/5A, 1A or division CTon the main circuit side, and use CT boxes of 5A or 1A as combined.
● Use VT’s of XXX/110V on the main circuit side. Direct connection may be made without VT’s, if the main circuit
voltage is 100/110V AC or 200/220V AC.
● Up to two circuits may be connected as VT input. Up to ten circuits (two CT’s per circuit) may be connected as CT
input in the case of a 3-phase 3-wire system, or up to six circuits (three CT’s per circuit) may be connected in the case of
a 3-phase 4-wire system. The combination of VT’s and CT circuits in the arithmetical operation of the electric power
of this product is of a selective setup. The combination of VT’s with each CT circuit may be set arbitrarily.
In the case when a 3-phase 3-wire system is set, lay the wiring as indicated below for application to a 3-phase 3-wire circuit
or single-phase 3-wire circuit. (The indicated voltage input is of one circuit only.) (CT boxes, etc. are omitted in the
following figure.)

Caution: In the case when a 3-phase 3-wire system is applied, connect the V(S) phase of the voltage input to the N terminal
(terminal 8,16) Connect the U(R) phase to the U terminals and connect W(T) phase to the W terminals.

Note: Independent terminals k and l are provided for each CT as CT input terminals. Use jumper wires if commonly used
with other meters or the like or if an existing CT is used. The VA required for a CT of this unit is 0.1VA or less.

6
● In the case when a 3-phase 4-wire system is set, lay the wiring as indicated below for application to a 3-phase 4-wire
circuit. (The indicated voltage input is of one circuit only.)

Note 1. The voltage between U and N, V and N and between W and N should not exceed 264V. (Use rated voltage
of 240V as the target when direct input is made.)
Even in this case, input the main unit control power supply as stepped down to 100/110, 200/220V.

● Mixed use of a 3-phase 3-wire system and 3-phase 4-wire system is not permitted with the two-VT input of this
product. Be sure to use the two-VT input of a 3-phase 3-wire system or 3-phase 4-wire system.
There is no problem with the mixed use of a star connection and delta connection for a 3-phase 3-wire circuit.

● Please use, used to attaching the seal to CT box when it uses it for the line 3-phase 4-wire system. The seal of
“3-phase 4-wire system” are included to the packing container of CT box. The seal of “3-phases 3-wire system” are
used to attaching to “CT box” in the time that is shipped from the factory.

7
2.2 Creating a list of setting values and setting up the setting values

● Execute setup of setting values without error and confusion, with a list of setting values such as those shown in
“Appended Table ” created in advance.
● In respect to setting items, frequency will not become valid unless the control power supply is turned ON/OFF
once after setup. When the frequency setting is changed, turn the control power supply ON/OFF once.
● For setting items, the applicable ZCT is available in two types, i.e. “MCCB built-in type ZCT” and “EW type
zero-phase current transformer”. As the ZCT characteristic (secondary current) varies between these types, if
any error is committed in the setup of the setting values, errors in the earth leakage relay actuating value and
earth-leakage current measured value are large. Execute setup of the setting values without errors.

2.3 Others
● The power distribution monitor unit provides the function to check for wire breaking in the CT box and terminal relay.
Therefore, if conduction is made in a state in which connector cables are not connected, an external wiring error (code:
F03) is indicated. However, this error does not imply that any failure occurred to the main unit. In the case where the
power distribution monitor unit is used only as a multi-meter (no output terminal relay is jointly used), lock the earth
leakage relay function. The terminal relay wiring check function is deleted when the earth leakage relay function is
locked.
● “Equipment failure output” is an NC (normally closed) contact output (magnetized in the normal state;
demagnetization occurs and the contact is closed when any error occurs). After power ON, therefore, a lag of about
100 ms occurs until the contact opens. Use a timer or the like as required (if external latching is made, for instance),
when you create an external sequence.
● The 7-segment LED of this product goes out (energy conservation mode) when no-operation status continues for
about 10 minutes. This LED lights up again when any switch is operated. (This LED will not go out in the
automatic changeover indication mode.)
● Please do not draw out the connector of CT, when this device is ON. Also, please do not shine. There is the
possibility that the trip signal outputs by the condition of the contact of a/the connector.

● The value of the integral power consumption is held even if the power failure occurs. However, the value of the
integral power consumption is done to a zero in the case that the ratio of VT is changed.

Connection of a communication line

● KPEV-SB(0.5sq) and also CPEV-SB(φ0.9mm) communication cable as or the fairly please use an/the article.
Please do wiring with a multiple drop method. The branching of the wiring is prohibition. 32 “F-MPC04” are
possible connect in a/the T link communication. 31 “F-MPC04” are possible connect in a RS-485 communication.
In the T link communication the total of the length of the signal line is to 700 m. In the RS-485 communication the
total of the length of the signal line is to 1000 m. In the T link communication transmission distance differs by the kind
of cable.
● Two-VT input monitor unit (UM01-ARA4E and UM01-ATA4E) has termination resistance for the RS-485
communication. Terminal NO. ③ and No.⑦ period of the terminal unit as for two-VT input monitor unit of the
edge, please short-circuit in the outside. Termination resistance comes into effect by short circuit.

8
3. Mounting and wiring method
3.1 Hole cutting in panel and mounting
Cut a hole (□138 ±0.5) in the panel for mounting the power distribution monitor unit main unit with reference made to the panel
hole-cutting dimensions drawing shown in “3 External appearance and dimensions drawings”. Then mount the power
distribution monitor unit in such a manner that its top face is level.
Ventilation holes are provided in the side faces of the case body. If these holes are plugged, the internal temperature rises and
errors may occur. The product service life may be shortened as well. If this product is mounted in multiple and in parallel,
provide a space of 10 cm or longer between units.

Mounting of power distribution monitor unit to panel face

Fit this product into the panel face from the front side, and fix it to the panel face by means of the provided mounting fittings and
mounting screws (2 places). A panel of thickness up to 4 mm permits mounting of a power distribution monitor unit by this
method. Tighten screws to tightening torque around 0.8N・m.

Mounting of CT boxes and terminal relays

CT boxes and terminal relays can be mounted by either DIN rail mounting or surface screw mounting (use M4 screws for
fixing).

9

7.2 Design life

The exchange part in a periodic check does not exist. The design life value type of F-MPC04 is 15 years at ambient
temperature 40℃ per a year. If temperature goes up 10℃ life becomes to about half.
The vent (the slit) is opening to the upper part and lower part of the case main body. There is the fear that the product life
becomes short, because the inside temperature goes up when the vent of this device is closed. Therefore, please avoid it
to close the vent.
Please understand, because also, design-life is not guarantee-life. Please exchange this device when this
device reached life.

The measurement that is more efficient, when F-MPC04 and installation method of CT are devised, becomes possible,
when multiple circuits are measured. Therefore, please refer to the following example to increase the number of the circuit.
Below the connection example is shown.
Example 1 3 transformers are transforming common primary voltage into the secondary voltage that differs. With
example 1, F-MPC04 measures the power consumption of 3 main circuits. F-MPC04 makes common primary voltage
VT and is inputting. Because the secondary voltage of 3 transformers is different F-MPC04 is not able to use secondary
voltage as VT.
