ST. JOSEPH COLLEGE OF CANLAON, INC.

Mabigo, Canlaon City, Negros Oriental

ABSTRACT
Math is the science of logic, quantity, structure, order, and arrangement. Most
math definitions refer to the subject as the only true pure science. Mathematics
can include counting, dividing up food or territory, and record keeping and has
existed almost as long as humans. As societies became complex, mathematics
also advanced. Here are a few branches of mathematics that exist today:

II. Course Descriptive : College and Advance Algebra
III. Credit Unit : 3 units
IV. Course Description : The course builds upon the students’ knowledge on properties of the real number system, operations on different types of algebraic
expressions and solution of various types of equations and inequalities. The course also covers the prerequisites to trigonometry and calculus, specifically
transcendental and non-transcendental functions, including the characteristics of their graphs and applications. It serves as a foundation for future study, in
various fields in mathematics. Students of this course will used hands-on materials, calculators and computer applications/software when needed in solving
problems where the algebra concepts are applied.

V. Course Objectives:
At the end of the course, the students are expected to:
1. To produce technologically skilled and globally competitive teachers
2. To equip students with academic competencies and prepare them for professional roles as teachers.
3. To develop competence that addresses issues and concerns towards quality instruction and capability building.
4. To strengthen institutional and global linkages, collaboration and networking for the sharing of expertise and resources.
5. To initiate knowledge – based projects for sustainability; and
6. To keep abreast with the curricular and pedagogical trends.

VI. Learning Outcome:

At the end of the semester the students are expected to:
LO1. Articulate and discuss the latest developments in the specific field of practice; (PQF level 6 descriptor)

LO2. Effectively communicate in English and Filipino, both orally and writing;

LO3. Work effectively and collaboratively with a substantial degree of independence in multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams; (PQF level 6
descriptor)

LO4. Act in recognition of professional, social, and ethical responsibility;
