What is MS Office?
Microsoft Office or Microsoft Office System is a collection of
computer programs made by Microsoft. The programs are created for
all users.

Why we use MS Office?


Using Microsoft office can allow your business to keep everything
filed in a neat and orderly fashion to speed things up. Microsoft
Office can be used to type letters and envelopes, create spread sheets,
make labels, and produce presentations for your home or office.

Sub Parts:-
• MS Word

Microsoft Word is a graphical word-processing program that users


can type with. The purpose of the MS Word is to allow the users to
type, edit and save documents.

• MS Excel
Microsoft Excel is a spreadsheet application developed by Microsoft
for Microsoft Windows. It features calculation, graphing tools, pivot
tables.
• MS PowerPoint

Microsoft PowerPoint is a slide show presentation program. It


features making of presentations and presenting your data in an
attractive manner.
MS WORD
Word Processor is a Software package that enables you to create, edit,
print and save documents for future retrieval and reference. Creating a
document involves typing by using a keyboard and saving it. Editing
a document involves correcting the spelling mistakes, if any, deleting
or moving words sentences or paragraphs.

COMPONENTS OF MS WORD:-

(a) Title Bar


The title bar displays the name of the currently active word document.
Like other WINDOWS applications, it can be used to alter the size
and location of the word window.

(b) Tool Bars

Word has a number of tool bars that help you perform task faster and
with great ease. Two of the most commonly tool bars are the
formatting tool bar and the standard tool bar. These two toolbars are
displayed just below the title bar.
(c) Ruler Bar
The Ruler Bar allows you to format the vertical alignment of text in a
document.
(d) Status Bar

The Status Bar displays information about the currently active


document. This includes the page number that you are working, the
column and line number of the cursor position and so on.

(d) Scroll Bar

The Scroll Bar helps you scroll the content or body of document. You
can do so by moving the elevator button along the scroll bar.

(e) Workspace

The Workspace is the areas in the document window you enter/type


the text of your document.

(f) Main Menu

The main menu further displays a sub menu. Some of the options are
highlighted options and some of them appear as faded options. At any
time, only highlighted options can be executed, faded options are not
applicable. You may not that any option faded under present situation
may become highlighted under different situations.

out 12th class from Vidya Niketan School. My father’s name is Mr Parvesh Bhatia. He is a

business man (confectionary shop). My mother’s name is Rekha Bhatia. She is a house wife. I am

learning cooking. My mother has inspired me much. I am punctual and dedicated. I try to learn

more and more by studying hard. I pray to God daily. I am very responsible and honest in my

personal conduct as well. My hobbies are playing badminton, listening music. My parents have

always taught me to be straightforward and bold. I believe behind the success of any man there is

great ever role by his parents. I myself feel lucky in that sense, being socialized under the shade

Operating System (OS) –

O perating System is an interface between the user and the hardware and

enables the interaction of a computer’s hardware and software. Also, an

MS Excel
Software developed and manufactured by Microsoft Corporation that
allows users to organize, format, and calculate data with formulas
using a spreadsheet system broken up by rows and columns. It is a
spreadsheet application developed by Microsoft for Microsoft
Windows. It features calculation, graphing tools, pivot tables.

COMPONENTS OF MS EXCEL:-
( a) Workbook

Also called a spreadsheet, the workbook is a unique file created by


Excel.

(b) Title Bar

The title bar displays both the name of the application and the name
of the spreadsheet.
( C )Menu Bar

The menu bar displays all of the menus available for use in Excel.

The contents of any menu can be displayed by left-clicking the menu

name

(d) Tool Bar

Some commands in the menus have pictures or icons associated with


them. These pictures may also appear as shortcuts in the toolbar.

(e) Column Headings

Each Excel spreadsheet contains 256 columns. Each column is named


by a letter or combination of letters.

(f) Row Headings

Each Excel spreadsheet contains 256 columns. Each column is named


by a letter or combination of letters.

(g) Name Box

This shows the address of the current selection or active cell.


(h) Formula Bar

The formula bar displays information entered—or being entered as


you type—in the current or active cell. The contents of a cell can also
be edited in the formula bar.

(i) cell

A cell is an intersection of a column and row. Each cell has a unique


cell address.
(j) Navigation Buttons and Sheet Tabs

Navigation buttons allow you to move to another worksheet in an

Excel workbook. Sheet tabs separate a workbook into specific

worksheets. A workbook defaults to three worksheets.
