The government intensifies further its efforts in combating drugs. The following are some of these
efforts:
1. Operations conducted by different law enforcing agencies like PNP, NBI, PDEA, Customs
and other law enforcers.
2. Strict implementation of policies under the “Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002”
and Toktok Hangyo (TOKHANG) program.
3. Actualization of the Dangerous Drugs Board’s programs and projects in partnership with
other agencies like DEPED, DSWD, LGU and NGO.

• EDUCATIONAL ATTAINMENT: High School Level (28.14%)
• ECONOMIC STATUS: Average Family Income Php 11,265.10
• PLACE OF RESIDENCE: Urban (specifically NCR (4.81%)
• DURATION OF DRUG USE: More than six (6) years
• NATURE OF DRUG TAKING: Mono drug use (abuse of 1 drug only)
• DRUGS/SUBSTANCES OF ABUSE: Methamphetamine Hydrochloride (Shabu),
Cannabis (Marijuana), Contact Cement (Rugby)

COMMON CONCEPTS IN DRUG EDUCATION:


A. DRUGS - These are any substances or chemicals which when taken into the body have
psychological, emotional and behavioral effects on a person.
B. DRUGS OF ABUSE – These are drugs commonly abused by users.
C. DRUG DEPENDENCE – It is a cluster of physiological, behavioral and cognitive phenomena
of variable intensity in which the use of a drug takes on a high priority thereby creating a strong
desire to take the substance.
D. DRUG MISUSE - It is the use of substance incoherent or inconsistent with the prescribed
dosage or frequency of use.
E. DRUG ABUSE - It is the use of substance for non-medicinal purposes.
F. DRUG TOLERANCE - It is the condition of the body to adapt to the effects of substances thus
requiring an even larger amount of substance to experience the same effect.
