What is an Action Research
“Action Research is a systematic, reflective inquiry to improve
educational practices or resolve problems in any operating unit
(e.g. school, classroom, office).” DepEd Order No. 16, s. 2017
The Action Research Process
(O’ Leary, 2017)
Identify a problem
Research the problem and its probable causes
Develop a response to the problem
Implement the proposed solution
Reflect on the results (and start over, if necessary)
(Kemmis, 1995)
The process of action research is cyclic in nature (Kemmis, 1995).
The Action Research DepEd Format
(DepEd Order No. 16, s. 2017)
Context and Rationale
Description of situation where the problem originated, how
the problem was discovered, circumstances that revolve
around it (e.g. results of achievement tests/ formative
assessment)
Importance and necessity to resolve the problem
Benefits of conducting the research to the people involved
Action Research Questions
The statement of the Problem covers the questions that
Action Research can answer.
It should be simple and not too complicated ideas.
