Practical Report Evaluation Criteria

The practical report rubric outlines criteria for evaluating student practical reports from exemplary to beginning levels in several areas: 1) Titles and aims, hypotheses, variables, safety considerations, results, discussions, and conclusions are evaluated on presence, clarity, accuracy, and scientific rigor. 2) Exemplary reports have clear, scientifically accurate titles, aims, hypotheses, identification of variables, safety analyses, well-presented results, analyses of results and errors, and conclusions indicating support for hypotheses. 3) Developing and beginning reports show increasing deficiencies in scientific language, identification and analysis of experimental components, and ability to accurately summarize results and draw conclusions.
