INTRO / NARRATOR POV.
Jumanji, one of the most unique—and dangerous—board games ever, falls into
the hands of the curious teen, Alan Parrish, in 1969. Mysterious and magical, the
game strands the unsuspecting boy in the lush, savage forests of a mythical
realm. Nearly three decades later, the game releases him before the awed eyes of
the young orphaned siblings, Judy and Peter Shepherd. Now, the wild and
incessant beat of the jungle’s tribal drums is calling for the now-adult Alan and
the other hesitant players, as the one who rolls the dice must never leave undone
what the roll has started. Has anyone ever escaped from the game and Jumanji’s
formidable foes?
( Alan’s at the door closing it, Sarah’s about to escaped from the house but Alan
caught her. )
ALAN – Sarah !
SARAH – Aaaahhhh ! Get your hands off me.
ALAN – The game is not over yet, Sarah.
SARAH – Well it is for me. You are not in the jungle anymore. Stop this! You don’t
treat people like this.
( Alan sit Sarah on the chair )
( Sarah stares straight ahead, breathing heavily )
SARAH – Anybody up for iced tea? I’m gonna make some tea.
( Alan’s already pissed off )
SARAH – Alan, please. Last time I played this game it ruined my life.
ALAN – It ruined your life? “ In the jungle you must wait, until the dice read five or
eight “
SARAH – I was a little girl, Alan you disappeared and a bunch of bats surrounded
me and chased me down the street. I was afraid. I’m sorry Alan. No one believed
me. I was alone.
ALAN – So was I, for 26 years, Sarah.
SARAH – Me too.
JUDY – It’s okay, Sarah. We’re scared too.
But if we finish the game. It will all go away.
SARAH – What if I get stuck on the game?
ALAN – You won’t, Because I won’t stop playing.
JUDY – and neither will I.
PETER – I won’t either.
( Peter, Judy, and Alan put their hands on the center )
JUDY – Come on Sarah, Please.
( Sarah glanced at Judy and Alan, then she put her hands )
SARAH – I knew this way gonna be a bad day.
ALAN – Hey come on, we’ll be fine.
( Alan gives Sarah a conciliatory look, Alan in conciliatory gesture extend his
hands, Sarah shake’s Alan hand. )
( Alan took the dice and roll it )
ALAN – “ A hunter from the darkest wild………… makes you feel just like a child “
( Alan rises quickly as if he expecting the worst. He look around nervously. )
SARAH – What is it?
ALAN – Van Pelt.
