REFLECTION:

I learned that the first document that you submit to your future
employer is an application letter. An application letter serves as
introduction of yourself to your potential employer. It contains your
background, summarizes your knowledge and experiences and includes
a few more details as to why you are qualified for the job. More
importantly, your application letter expresses your intent to apply for a
specific job in an organization , business or company. I have learned
that before you write an application letter, you have to know the
company you are applying in. Don’t write a one-fits-all letter
application. You need to fit your skills with the company’s needs so
your application letter gets to be read. You become the best person for
the job if you specify your skills which the company needs. When
sending your application letter, be sure that it is free from grammatical
errors. I learned that your letter is your first contact with your
employer. Any mistake will have a negative impression on you. Be sure
to impress your employer by submitting a carefully-written, free from
error application letter. Another thing that I learned is that preparing a
Resume. Resume comes from the French word ‘resume’ which means
“summary” or “summarized”. Resume is a marketing document that
captures your skills and capability. It is submitted together with an
application letter. Resume aims to highlight your skills and strengthens
that will convince your future employer of your fitness for the job. It
will tell your future employer that you are the most qualified and you
have what it takes for the job. An effective resume is judged based on
whether it gets you to be interviewed for the job. The resume must
stimulate interest and desire to call you for interview among hundreds
of resumes submitted.
