I. Objectives

At the end of the class, the learners will be able to:

 Define what persuasive writing is.

 Identify the different techniques in persuasive writing and its parts and the
cohesive devices used.

 Create a short persuasive essay with the use of correct format.

 Construct a five (5) sentences persuasive paragraph.

 Realize the implications of persuasive writing in their daily life.

II. Content

Lesson: Persuasive Writing

Sub-topics:

 Definition of persuasive writing

 Different techniques in persuasive writing

 Cohesive devices used in persuasive writing

 Examples of persuasive writing.

Material: PowerPoint Presentation


III. Procedures

Preliminary Activities

 The teacher will start the class with a prayer. It will be followed by greetings,
checking of class attendance and recalling of virtual classroom rules.

A. Motivational Activity

 The teacher will introduce the activity called “Convince Me”. She will then
present in the class some popular fast food chains in town. These are: Jollibee,
McDonalds, Chinky’s, Mang Inasal, Chong;s Tapsilogan and Sizzlers,
Merzci, Chowking and KFC.

 The teacher will ask 10 random students and ask each one of them to choose
their favourite fast food chain that they think offers the best food in the city.
Each students will choose from the presented fast food chain.

 After selecting, the students will convince their classmates are to why their
chosen fast food chain is the best by giving their reasons.

B. Analysis

 After the activity, the teacher will ask the following questions:

a. What have you observe in the given activity?

b. Based on our activity, what do you think is our lesson for today?

 The teacher will discuss the content of the lesson.

 The definition of Persuasive Writing will be explained to the class


followed by the different techniques of persuasive writing.

 The teacher will also discuss on how to write a Persuasive Essay and its
parts and the cohesive device that are commonly used in Persuasive
Writing/Essay.

 The teacher will present two (2) examples of Persuasive Essay. For each
examples, the students will be asked with the following questions:

a. What is the main idea of the essay? Identify the topic sentence.

b. What is the thesis statement?

c. Identify the introductions, body and the conclusion.


d. What are the cohesive devices used?

C. Abstraction

 The teacher will summarize the topic the topic that was discussed and provide
a brief explanation on the implication of the topic to the students.

 The teacher will divide the class into two groups. Each group will be provided
with this scenario:

a. The Bacolod City National High School will join the Bacolod City Sports
Events for the upcoming Masskara Festival. As a student you have been
asked to provide input on the selection of a school sports team mascot.
These are the choices:

 In this activity, each group will construct a persuasive writing and they will
have to use the given format below to create their output. They are only
given 5 minutes to finish their work.

 Once they are done, their group leader will be the one to present their work
in the class by reading it.
D. Application

Formative Assessment

 The teacher will provide a 5 item multiple choice test. The students will
choose the correct answer.
 The teacher will then ask the students to post their answers in Google
Meet chat box and at the same time she will ask random students to
answer the questions orally.

Individual Activity

 The teacher will assign an individual work. The teacher will instruct the
students to create a persuasive essay. It must have an introduction, body and
conclusion. They will also need to use appropriate cohesive device.

 The students will choose their stand based on the given list of topic.

 They will need to type or post their answers in Facebook’s comment section in
their teacher’s Facebook Post.
 They will be score based on the posted rubric.
