Making of a Rocket:
Introduction:
A rocket is basically space vehicle that is used to travel in space while producing a huge amount
of thrust.
But we just making a design in our mechanical workshop.
Objectives:
Now a days rockets are used as firework, missile and other weapons most of them are used as
weapons and space vehicles.
Why we chose Rocket for our project?
We chose rocket for our project because it was simple and as in workshop we performed Lath
machine benchwise and welding so our rocket include all this which we had performed in in
mechanical workshop.
Materials:
1. Mild steel rod.
2. Mild steel plates.
Workshop/Lab:
1. Lathe machine.
2. Welding.
3. Bench fitting.
Tools used:
1. Lath machine
2. Vernier caliper
3. Hacksaw
4. Facing tool
5. Tapper turning tool
6. Filer
7. Sand paper
8. Plier
9. Electric arc welding
Procedure:
1. Cut mild steel rod to desired length on lathe.
2. To avoid sharp edges do facing on both sides.
3. Then by turning method form exhaust side.
4. Then turn the piece and by taper turning form the top of rocket.
5. After that on bench fitting cut the wings for rocket.
6. The file the edges to avoid any sharp edge.
7. After that using sand paper cleaning the wings.
8. By welding join the wings to rocket.
9. After welding we again use filer to remove slag from work piece.
10. After that we use sand paper to make its surface smooth.
11. Then we use spray paint on it for good look.
Dimensions and diagram:
length= (172mm)
diameter= (40mm)
head= (51 mm)
tail= (12mm)
wing length= (97 mm)
wing diameter= (5mm)
Wing base= (41mm)
Final Results and Cost:
The total cost of Rocket raw material = Rs 750
Safety procedures:
1. Wear safety goggles using lathe machine.
2. Avoid sharp edges on work piece.
3. Wear overall to protect your clothes and yourself while working.
4. Wear gloves using welding machine.
5. Stop the lathe machine before mounting and unmounting work piece.
6. Use head gear to protect eyes while doing welding.
