Assignment 1

1. Formulate the Y-bus matrix for the 4-bus power system shown using the singular transformation method, with bus 1 as the reference bus. 2. Formulate the Y-bus matrix for the 4-bus power system shown using the singular transformation method, accounting for line and generator reactances and half line charging admittances. 3. Formulate the Y-bus matrix for the 3-bus power system shown under three cases: (a) without line 2-3, (b) the effect of adding line 2-3 with no mutual coupling, and (c) adding line 2-3 with a mutual impedance of j0.01 pu to line 2-3(

1. For the power system network shown in g 1, formulate

Y-bus by singular transformation method. The self and mutual

impedances in pu are indicated in the gure. Take bus-1 as
reference.

2. For the power system network shown is gure 2, obtain Y-bus by

singular transformation method. The reactance of each line is 0.01
pu and that of the generator is 0.05 pu. Each line has a half line
charging admittance of 0.05 pu.

The line impedances are given below:

Formulate Y - bus for the following cases:

(a) Assume that the line shown dotted between Bus-2 and B-3 ,
that is line 2- 3(2) is not present.

(b) Discuss which element of Y-bus obtained in case (a) are

a ected when the dotted line 2-3(2) is connected. The new line has

no mutual coupling with other lines.

(c) Obtain the modi ed Y-bus when line 2-3(2) which has a mutual

impedance of j0.01 pu with line 2-3(1) is connected.
