Colleagues of my department also helped me incredibly in preparing this report & Sincerely, ‘Md Sharique Nomani EXECUTIVE SUMMARY The core objective of the internship is to fulfill the requirement of the BBA program as prescribed by the Jamia Hamdard University. An intern has to prepare project report at the end of the internship period but the main objective of the internship is to get the hands-on experience of the real-world organization. The internship was completed with the objective of getting practical knowledge in the HR department of Learnovate Ecommerce. The first responsibility I was assigned on this six week of internship period was to a post Internship program on different social media sites, collect the applicant and take their Interview. Secondly, I was Promoted to Head HR where, | was assigned with different roles and responsibilities. As an intern, I realized that 1 was successful to gather a lot of significant learning experiences which would be helpful in my future career. The HR department of Learnovate Ecommerce offered me ample space and opportunities, not only to learn but also to exhibit my skills as a HR team member. I also attempted to gather more information on basic job functions of other departments to have better understanding of the relation between them and the HR. department. It was commendable to see how wholeheartedly they welcomed acknowledged and appreciated new ideas and knowledge. I have provided few recommendations based upon my understanding and knowledge. successfully completed all the assigned duties and handed them over to the senior supervisor at the end of the intemship. | thoroughly enjoyed the challenges that came along every single day. I could also bring some minor improvisations during my internship which were able to leave their marks. These lessons that I have learned will be a valuable one for my future endeavors as well. Chapter: 1 Introduction Human resources management (HRM) is concerned with the “people” dimension in management. It deals with the totality of the manpower management function. HRM may be defined as the art of processing, developing, and maintaining a competent workforce to achieve the goals of an organization in an effective and efficient manner. In other words, HRM can be defined as a process, concerned with the management of human energies and competencies to ensure a competent and committed workforce to achieve organizational goals in a changing environment. According to DiCenzo and Robbins, “HRM is a process consisting of four functions- acqui n, development, motivation and maintenance of human resources. “ Human Focus: HRM is concerned with the people in an organization. It focuses on individuals possessing energy and competencies. It is always concems with developing and utilizing human potential ¢ Management Functions: HRM is a management function. It involves acquisition, development, motivation and maintenances of HR. “ Pervasive: HRM covers all levels of management. It is performed by all levels of management. * Continuous:HRM is a continuous function. The activities related to HRM are continuously performed in an organization. It is always concems with Present and future HR. «» Mutuality oriented: ty fed: HRM always tries to improve the relation between employers and employees by integrating their goals. Dynamic: HRM is ynamic functi 's a dynamic function. tt is affected by the changes in environment, It adapts to the changing forces in the environment. 1.2,Obiectives of HRM ae - Organizations procure and manage various resources including human to attain the specified objectives or goals. Thus, HR are managed to divert and utilize their resources towards and for the accomplishment of organizational goals. Therefore, basically the objective of HRM is drawn from and to contribute to the accomplishment of the organizational goals. The other objectives of HRM are to meet the needs, aspiration, values and dignity of individual employees and having due concems for the socio-economic problems of the community and the country. * To create and utilize an able and motivated workforce to accomplish the basic organizational goals. ¢ To establish and maintain organizational structure and desirable working relationship among all the members of the organization. To secure the integration of individual or groups within the organization by coordination of individual and group goals with those of the organization. To create facilities and opportunities for individual or goal development so as to match it with the growth of the organization. * To identify and satisfy individual and group needs by providing adequate and equitable wages, incentives, employees benefits and social security and measure for challenging work, prestige, recognition, security status. To strengthen and appreciate the human assets continuously by providing training and development program. + To provide facilities and conditions of work and creation of favorable atmosphere for maintaining stability of employment 1,3, The functions of HRM: ¢ Human Resource Planning: HR planning is a forecasting the need and availability of manpower in an organization. It is prepared by HR departments in consultation with other departments. The demand for manpower is estimated on the basis of expansion or contraction of current and future business operation whereas manpower supply is determined by the internal and external availability of people. + Job Analysis: It is the basic function of HRM. It collects the job-related information to make job specification and job description. Job Analysis helps in formulation manpower planning, recruitment and selection and other HR decisions. + Recruitment and Selection: HRM recruits the potential employees. Recruitment is a process of identifying the prospective employees, stimulating them and encouraging them to apply for the particular job in an organization. Selection is made from the list of potential employees after recruitment. Selection involves the process of reviewing application blanks, organizing interviews and test and informing candidates. Training and Development: It is needed to build the skill, ability and to motivate the employees. HR department provides training and development program to the employees as per the organizational need. It assesses the training needs and determines the type of training and development program. tion employees” % Performance Appraisal: It is the process of evalua performance related strength and weakness, Performance is measured against criteria set previously. This function helps in determining pay, promotion and also in taking disciplinary action. + Compensation and Benefits: Compensation and Benefits are the monetary reward provided to the employees against their effort to work. They are the major tools to motivate the employees in anorganization. Thus, HR manager must design them in effective manner to attract qualified and skilled manpower at work. + Health and Safety: Every organization has to take care of its employees’ health and safety. Working place must be clean and safe enough to perform the work by employees. Higher risk and pollution de-motivate the employees at work. Thus, HR managers should highly concern on this matter + Employee Relation: HR mangers must maintain harmonious relation between management and employees. Any issues or grievances arise in an organization should be handled constructively through discussion, negotiation etc. “% Record Keeping: HR department keeps and maintain the record of employees and retrieve whenever it is necessary. The records include application form, medical records, employment history, absence etc. This, function helps in promoting as well as to take disciplinary action to statts HR Recruitment Recruitment refers to the process of identifying, attracting, interviewing, selecting, hiring and onboarding employees. In other words, it involves everything from the identification of a staffing need to filling it. Depending on the size of an organization, recruitment is the responsibility of a range of workers. Larger organizations may have entire teams of recruiters, while others only a single recruiter. In small outfits, the hiring manager may be responsible for recruiting. In addition, many organizations outsource recruiting to outside firms. Companies almost always recruit candidates for new positions via advertisements, job boards, social media sites, and others. Many companies utilize recruiting software to more effectively and efficiently source top candidates. Regardless, recruitment typically works in conjunction with, or as a part of Human Resources. Need of Recruitment Every Company in the world knows the importance of the recruitment step in increasing. Also, The performance of the company and increasing the productivity of the products. In this part of the project, we will mention some important point about the importance of the recruitment step in any organization: 4 It helps the organization by finding the need for requirements by job analysis activities and personnel planning. To collect many job candidates with less cost. % It helps to organize applications by dividing them by underqualified or overqualified, to increase the possibility of increasing and choosing the successfull person to the right place. The Purpose and Importance of Recruitmen: “ Determine the present and future requirements of the organization in conjunction with its personnel planning and job analysis activities. Recruitment & Selection Process The process of evaluating and determining the need for a position is critical in the recruitment process. Employing units who have a need for a new position, ot to backfill an existing position, should use this as an opportunity to review the and to advance the organizational structure, staffing skills and expertise, alignment of the workforce with company policy. 3 The talent management framework and associated procedures are designed to support a positive experience for the candidate, and provide the structure for a consistent, fair and legal process for the hiring manager and the institution. Chapter: 4 My Assigned Job Role During the Six weeks of internship period in the organization as an intern,I decided to work under HR Department where I could learn some important aspects of HR functionsand understand the corporate culture of anorganization and also bring in some fresh ideasto the department. 1 have thought of doing MBAin HR, for obvious reasons I took upinternship in HRM.I was fortunate enough to have theopportunity to do the internship program in such awell-staffed organization. According to their Policy, HR Intern was given the task to perform various administrative tasks and support their HR department’s daily activities.
