L1 (A) SPRING MASS OSCILLATOR

Suspend a hanger from the lower end of the spring suspended vertically from a rigid support. Set the system
consisting of suitable mass on the hanger into oscillation and determine the time taken to complete 50 oscillations.
Vary the mass in the hanger and find time of oscillations for five different values of mass M.

Find the periodic time for each mass. Plot the graph of T 2 against M. Hence find the mass of the spring.

You are given a capillary tube. Immerse it partially in water. Measure the capillarity rise by using a travelling
microscope.

Hence determine the surface tension of water.

(c) Angle of contact θ = 0o

(d) Density of water ρ = 1 gm/cm3

Note the temperature of the given hot liquid after every one minute. Take 25 readings.

Plot the cooling curve (θ versus t). Find the rate of cooling for four different values of temperature.

Plot a graph of rate of cooling (dθ/dt) against excess of temperature (θ – θ 0) above the surrounding. Hence verify
Newton’s law of cooling.

L3 (B) NEWTON’S LAW OF COOLING

Note the temperature of the given hot liquid after every one minute. Take 25 readings.

Plot the cooling curve (θ versus t). Find the rate of cooling for four different values of temperature.

Plot a graph of rate of cooling (dθ/dt) against temperature (θ). Hence determine room temperature.

L4 (A) SONOMETER - I

You are given five tuning forks of known frequencies. Keeping tension constant, determine the length of the wire
vibrating in unison with each tuning fork.

Hence verify the law of length (nl = constant).

L4 (B) SONOMETER - I

You are given four tuning forks of known frequencies. Keeping tension constant, determine the length of the wire
vibrating in unison with each tuning fork.

Also determine the vibrating length of the same wire for the same tension for unknown frequency of tuning fork.
Hence determine the unknown frequency.

L4 (C) SONOMETER - I

You are given five tuning forks of known frequencies. Keeping tension constant, determine the length of the wire vibrating
in unison with each tuning fork.
Plot a graph of frequency against reciprocal of vibrating length. Draw your conclusion from the graph.

L5 (A) SONOMETER - II

A tuning fork of known frequency is given to you. Using a sonometer, determine the length (L) of the wire vibrating in
unison with the given tuning fork for four different known tensions (T) and one unknown tension.

Plot a graph of T against L2. Hence determine unknown tension from the graph.

L5 (B) SONOMETER - II

A tuning fork of known frequency is given to you. Using a sonometer, determine the length (L) of the wire vibrating in
unison with the given tuning fork for four different known tensions (T) and one unknown tension.

Find the mean value of T/L2. Hence determine unknown tension.

L7 (A) CURRENT SENSITIVITY

Measure the deflection in the given table galvanometer for five different values of current flowing through it. Hence
determine current sensitivity (Si) of the given table galvanometer.

Given: EMF of cell: 1.5 V, Resistance of galvanometer:……………….Ω

L7 (B) CURRENT SENSITIVITY

Measure the deflection in the given table galvanometer for five different values of current flowing through it. Plot a
graph of deflection (θ) versus current (I). Calculate current sensitivity (Si) of the given table galvanometer from graph.

Given: EMF of cell: 1.5 V, Resistance of galvanometer:……………….Ω

L8(A) WHEATSTONE’S METER BRIDGE

You are given two resistances X1 and X2. Connect them in series in one gap of Wheatstone's meter bridge. Take three
independent readings for the null point.

Also, take three readings on interchanging the position of resistances in the gaps.

Hence verify the law of resistance in series.

Given: (a) Resistance X1 = ……….Ω, (b) Resistance X2 = ……….Ω

L8(B) WHEATSTONE’S METER BRIDGE

You are given two resistances X1 and X2. Connect them in parallel in one gap of Wheatstone's meter bridge. Take
three independent readings for the null point.

Hence verify the law of resistance in parallel.

Using a digital multimeter to locate emitter, base and collector terminals of the given transistor and identity its type
