Chapter Two: FIRE

Since Imhotep quelled the Brood invasion in 2620 B.C., one organization has taken it upon itself to safeguard the human race against the known and unknown. They are security, they are shelter they are the Shield. This higher calling has been passed from generation to generation, from Imhotep to Leonardo da Vinci to Galileo. And now, it is being passed to a young man named Leonid. In the Immortal City preserved deep below Rome, Sir Isaac Newton and Leonardo da Vinci battle for leadership of the High Council of Shield, with Leonid caught in the middle of the conflict. The situation looks dire until a ghostly and glowing Michelangelo Buonarroti appears before Leonid with a third option. But as Leonid listens to Michelangelos understandings of parallel universes and non-linear time, he finds himself joined by three men once thought lost forever: Shield agents Howard Stark and Nathaniel Richards, and Leonids own father, the Night MachineNikola Tesla!
