BR - Lifting Sling Inspection Criteria - R2

Synthetic web slings and wire rope slings should not be used in certain temperature conditions and with certain chemicals as they can be damaged. Slings must be inspected for cuts, breaks, abrasion, discoloration and other signs of damage and removed from service if inspection criteria are not met. Chain slings must be inspected periodically and removed from service if wear exceeds specified amounts or links are bent beyond 90 degrees.

below -40°F (-40°C). • Avoid sudden jerks when lowering or lifting
• Avoid sling contact with any kind of sharp surfaces. • Balance all loads
• Do not overload any sling beyond its rated capacity. • Never overload
• Use pads around sharp corners
• DO NOT drop loads on chains
