- How to control the Moving Load Analysis
- Results for Moving Loads and to back trace the Vehicle Load Positions for the most critical result.
- To check the Concurrent Reactions for the maximum reaction due to the respective vehicle position
at each support.

Deciding Lane Placement
First we need to decide where to
place lanes over the deck.
Crash Barrier of 1m each on both
ends
Carriageway Width : 9.5-2 = 7.5 m
According to IRC 6 Table 2:
Live Load Combination
For Carriage way Width
5.3< CW <9.6
We have 2 Combinations
1. 1 Lane of Class 70R running
with minimum Eccentricity
from the kerbs.
2. 2 Lanes of Class A running
. with minimum Eccentricity
from the kerbs.
So, we need to define 3 lanes.

Deciding Class 70R Lane
• 1 Lane for Class 70R has to be
added with minimum eccentricity
from the kerb of the deck.
• Wheel Width for Class 70R is
0.86m.
• Center to Center wheel spacing
for Class 70R is 1.93 m.
• So eccentricity from the Center
Line where the Line Element is
modelled is:
e = 4.75-1-1.2-0.43-0.965
= 1.155 m

Deciding Class A Lanes
• 2 Lanes for Class A has to be
added with minimum eccentricity
from the kerb of the deck.
• Wheel Width for Class 70R is
0.5m.
• Center to Center wheel spacing
for Class 70R is 1.8 m.
• So eccentricity from the Center
Line where the Line Element is
modelled is:
Lane 1 :
e = 4.75-1-.15-0.25-0.9
= 2.45 m
Lane 2 :
e = 4.75-1-.15-0.25-1.8-.25-1.2-
.25-0.9
= -1.05 m

for the bridge as per formulas given in IRC or 6
instead one can directly mention the Impact Factor
also.

Vehicular Load Distribution > Lane Element
*since there is only one line element which we are
using as reference element, so the vehicular load 10 8
can be distributed only through that line element.
In case of Grillage Modelling one should go for 9
Cross Beam Distribution.

angles at the start and end of the Lane. It
automatically takes into account of the wheels
coming inside the skew specified.

Define Support Group for Concurrent

*To find the Concurrent Reactions for the 4
corresponding maximum reactions at each
support , we need to consider all support
nodes in a Group.
1 Go to Tree Menu -> Groups
2 Right Click > Structure Group> New
Name > Concurrent Group
3 Select the 4 Support Nodes.
