Handouts Lymphatic System F11

The lymphatic system consists of lymphatic vessels, lymph nodes, lymph, and lymphoid tissues that together provide structural support for the immune system. Lymphatic vessels form a one-way network that drains interstitial fluid from tissues and returns it to the bloodstream. Lymph flows through a series of lymph nodes where immune cells filter out pathogens and debris. The spleen, thymus, tonsils, adenoids, and Peyer's patches are lymphoid tissues that support immune function.
