The direction of this show is inspired by The Tragical History of the Life and Death
of Doctor Faustus by Christopher Marlowe circa 1592, in which the titular character

makes a pact with the devil in order to obtain knowledge and power. The use of
the seven deadly sins is part of Faustus, but is unique to this production of
Chicago. Additionally Faustus lends this production an examination of the weight
