Mental Health Awareness and Why We Should Not
Neglect It
(written by Andrei John T. Jorillo)

Overview: Many people do not consider mental health to be very important and
do not make it a top priority. This is just incorrect! Mental health is crucial for all
of us because it affects how we view life, how we deal with life's obstacles, and
how we manage our relationships. Many people ignore their mental health and
will use anything as an excuse to avoid dealing with it.

Mental Health awareness can be a troublesome topic to some people because

they’re scared to talk about their experiences in the past, but being scared can
only worsen their mental health so being aware and to why we should not neglect
it is a very important thing, discussing this topic to a professional can be a big
help and with that people should be more aware about how to approach this
topic.

Being mentally aware is a must for teenager nowadays, because teenagers face
the most hardest cycle of life, because in that part of life a lot of things happen
that can help them grow into adults, but not being mentally aware can be a
burden to teenager because they tend to think that they’re not good enough to do
certain things.

If people just try to face their mental health head on a lot things can be different.
People tend to run away because they overthink and that’s the main issue.
Overthinking things makes it harder for us to do specific things because we’re
scared of what the outcome will do to us.

If we try to view things outside our comfort zone, this can help us practice to be
aware of our mental health. Doing this can lessen our worries in life and how we
treat the people around [Link] comfortable with things comes with a price but
we should practice to accept this prices the we are willing to pay, because this
helps us to grow as a person.

Introduction

In today’s world mental health awareness is a big issue, due to the

pandemic that happened mental health awareness became a big part in today’s
studies with schools laying down surveys to know what a child may be
experiencing and further help them adjust in today’s new normal education.

The learning system in the new normal is a struggle to students due to the fact
that many student lack the basic equipment to study in the new normal with this
problem students mental health awarenes lessen because they worry more
about how they can overcome the new normal education without the right
equipment and the basic needs to study.

Mental Health Awareness should be implemented not only in schools but also in
work places so that not only children can maintain proper mental health but also
adults that build up most of our community. Adults also need proper mental
health awareness because they are the main producers of our world in terms of
our economic statuses.

The part that teenagers and adults fill in in-terms of mental health awareness is
big, because they build up the community that this problem affects. Neglecting
mental health awareness may lead to serious mental health disorders and some
people tend to discriminate people with mental health disorders, because they’re
scared that, that person may cause harm to them.

The main problem of mental healh awareness and why we should not neglect it
are due to the increase of people within our country becoming mentally [Link]
Philippine World Health Organization (WHO) Special Initiative for Mental Health
conducted in the early part of 2020 shows that at least 3.6 million Filipinos suffer
from one kind of mental, neurological, and substance use disorder. With this
many filipinos suffering mental health disorders the government should focus on
giving filipinos the right help so that they can be more aware of their mental
health that they should not neglect it.
Body

Individual therapies, such as therapy, have traditionally been emphasized

on college campuses. To deal with mental health difficulties among
college students Despite the fact that direct therapeutic approaches are effective,
These resources are often overcrowded due to the fact that they are
experimentally supported as being [Link] large number of student needs,
particularly those of kids in distress. Because direct therapy is frequently one-on-
one, It is difficult to reach a majority of the student body. Many people have tried
to remedy this issue. Universities are increasingly implementing community-wide
initiatives in accordance with the World Health Organization's
[Link] techniques are being developed by organizations to try to
prevent mental health concerns.

Programs to help people to deal with their mental health awareness should be
done face to face but due to certain conditions in today’s world non government
facilities are not given proper guidance on how to deal with this kind of situation.
People from those non government facilities sometimes deal with the most
mental health issue but due to their facility being a non government one they lack
the attention of the government to help them deal with their situtions as they
became the secondary priority of the government.

Arguably the most common form of helping people deal with their mental health
issues is by giving them new activities to develop their strong will to get over the
hurdle that their mental health is going through. Of course the activities that will
be given to them should be the ones that they can develop their mental skills so
that they can more aware about their mental health.

Indeed, most of the mental health / illness concepts in the literature derive from
the general psychiatric and psychological traditions developed in Western
countries. However, cultural values and traditions shape the cross-concept
concept of mental health and mental illness. In this regard, Eshun and Gurung
pointed out that "culture influences an individual's symptom, communication,
psychological challenges, and willingness to seek treatment."

Despite the variety of disciplinary and contextual approaches to mental health,

the current definition of mental health has two things in common. First, mental
health is considered from a biopsychosocial perspective, including biological,
psychological and social factors. Second, mental health means something
beyond the absence of mental illness. An example is the definition of the World
Health Organization. It describes mental health as "a state of well-being in which
each individual can reach his or her potential, meet the challenges of normal life,
be productive, fruitful, and contribute." What to do for her or his community " This
definition extended the concept of mental health beyond the absence of mental
illness and incorporated the presence of positive features, thus contributing to
major advances in research and practice in this area.
Conlusion

I’ve concluded that the importance of mental health awareness and why
we should not neglect it, is that mental health in today’s society filled with political
propagandas is a big deal because the higher ups in our government focuses on
economic statuses, which is the right thing to do. But to further prove my point
mental health awareness is also important because this can cause an unstable
inscrease of people losing their selves therefore lowering our economic
standards because they cannot regain themselves from the trauma they are
going through.

The people with these kind of conditions cannot properly contribute in our
economy therefore the higher ups doesn’t give them help because they’re only
focusing on those people who can benefit our country more. Because of this
people are afraid to get the proper help because they are casted out by a society
that only wants to benefit from people with high statuses and in the right state of
mental health.

To further conclude my point not a lot of people with mental health issues
get the the right treatment in public places people in public places discriminate
them like they’re some kind of different being and this further causes an issue
because this only adds to the problem that they’re going through.

Most of the people that are employed for their skillful works also have
mental health issues but they’re aware because they get the right help that they
need, so the government should start doing programs to help those people with
less awareness so that they can fit in our society without any discrimination.

The more people are aware about their mental health the better our world
will become because people will live their lives without the worry of ever
becoming discriminated by a society that is filled with people that think that
mentally illed people are uncapable of doing things that normal people tend to do
because with the right guidance people can be aware and be the best person
they can in this wonderful world that has given us everything we need to live our
lives to the fullest.
