ERROR MESSAGES
Correct operation of the instrument via the controller is shown by the No error
message which is displayed on the screen of the computer, especially on the
Direct programming screen.

Should the controller or the instrument malfunction, an error message is displayed

on the screen to indicate the origin of the breakdown. These various error
messages are described in the following paragraphs:

1. "Controller system" error

Errors related to the controller system are listed hereafter:

MESSAGE
No error…
SYS: BUS Access error
SYS: Address error
SYS: Illegal instruction
SYS: Divide by zero
SYS: Privilege violation
SYS : Trace vector
SYS: Unimplemented A-Line
SYS: Unimplemented F-Line
SYS: Debug interrupt
SYS: Format error
SYS: Uninitialized interrupt
SYS: Spurious interrupt
SYS: Autovectored interrupts
SYS: Trap instructions
SYS: Nonsupported instruction
SYS: CheckSum Error
SYS: EEPROM Access Error
SYS: Flash1 Access Error
SYS: Flash2 Access Error
SYS: External SDRAM Access Error
SYS: Internal SRAM Access Error
CAN Controller Access Error
Ethernet Controller Access Error
Parameter Code Error (EEPROM)
Note If one of these error messages appears, switch off the controller, then re-
apply a voltage to it.

Note If the error message re-appears, contact SETARAM or its representative in

the country.

2. "Real-time clock" error

Errors related to Real-time clock are listed hereafter:

MESSAGE
Real-time treatment failure

Note If this error message appears, switch off the controller, then re-apply a
voltage to it.

Note If this error occurs again the real-time clock circuit might be damaged or
an electronic module on CAN bus might be out of order.

Note Contact SETARAM or its representative in the country.

3. "Watchdog" error
If the embedded software of CS Evol goes in unstable state, the following error
can appear:

MESSAGE
Watchdog detection

Note If this error appears switch off the controller, then switch it on again,
waiting a few seconds between the two actions, the reconnect the software.

Note If the error persists, the breakdown probably comes from CPU module

Note Contact SETARAM or the nearest representative.

4. Ethernet communication error

Errors related problems on Ethernet Port are listed hereafter:
MESSAGE
Undefined reading variable
Undefined writing variable
Undefined command

Note One of these errors may appear during communication with the computer.

Note Check that the communication cable between the computer and the
controller is properly connected.

Note It is possible to see these errors when the embedded software version is not
up to date.

5. "Temperature transducer" error

Errors related to problems on the temperature transducer are listed hereafter:

MESSAGE
Furnace 1 Temperature sensor failure
Sample Temperature sensor failure
Furnace 2 Temperature sensor failure
Furnace Aux. Temperature sensor failure
QDOS Temperature sensor failure
DRC Reference Temperature sensor failure
DRC Measure Temperature sensor failure

Note These error messages correspond with a failure of the temperature

transducer linked with the furnaces F1 or F2 , with the transducer holding the
sample and with the auxiliary furnace (if any).

Note If the temperature transducer has been cut off replace it (change the rod).

Note If not, check the flex running between the transducer and its environment-
control box on the controller at the rear panel.
6. "Saturation signal" error
Errors related to signal saturation are listed above:

MESSAGE
Heatflow 1 saturation
Heatflow 2 saturation

Note If there is saturation of the signal check the connection between the
transducer and the controller.

7. "Safety temperature" error

Errors related to safety temperature are listed hereafter:

MESSAGE
Furnace 1 above security temperature
Sample above security temperature
Furnace 2 above security temperature
Aux. Furnace above security temperature

Note These errors correspond with exceeding the safety temperature.

Note Check the safety temperature initialization and the compatibility of the
latter with the temperature program.

Note Take into account that the set-point may be exceeded.

Note Should there be poor temperature control the PID actions may also need to
be checked.

8. "Fixed temperature" error

Errors related to fixed temperature are listed hereafter:

MESSAGE
Temperature Set above sensor max
Security Set above sensor max
Note These errors may appear at the start of an experiment.

Note Check that the temperature program or the safety temperature does not
contain a temperature value greater than one sustained by the temperature
transducer.

9. "External safety" error

If external security fails, the following message appears on the screen:

MESSAGE
Check external security

Note This message appears when the external safety fitting cuts in.

Note Check the connection between the controller's power control and the
power module. Check that the water electro valves on opened and water flow rate
is correct.

10. "Buffer saturation" error

If the acquisition buffer is saturated the following message appears on the screen:

MESSAGE
Acquisition buffer saturation

Note If this message appears switch off the programs within the windows
environment operating with the SETARAM software.

Note One of the two is monopolizing the Windows resources for too long. This
involves losing data from the experiment taking place.

11. "Configuration" error

If the controller is not mapped, the following message appears on the screen:

MESSAGE
Invalid or unknown apparatus
Note This message may appear following CPU module replacement.

12. "Balance saturation" error

MESSAGE
TG Saturation

Note Check that the mass of the sample is lower than the range of the TG
measurement.

Note If everything is correct then check that the cable between the balance and
the controller is properly connected.

13. "Pressure saturation" error (C80 D pressure

option)
MESSAGE
Pressure saturation

Note If there is saturation of the signal check the connections between the
pressure transducer, the pressure rack and the controller.

14. TMA errors

MESSAGE
TMA saturation

Note Check that the probe is properly positioned for the measurement range of
the TG signal.

Note Check the connection between the controller and the TMA head.

MESSAGE
Probe weight search failed

The controller cannot determine the TMA probe weight.

Note Check the connection between the controller and the TMA head.
15. "microDSC safety" error
MESSAGE
90 C security, return to 25

This error is related to the microDSC III Evo and MICRODSCVII Evo safety if
the instrument has been:

• on pause,
• on a level,
• or ON but the scanning rate is equal to zero,

when the temperature is higher than 90°C for more than 30 minutes. The
controller automatically brings the temperature of the microDSC down to 25°C.

16. « Saturation analog input » error

MESSAGE
User1 Acquisition saturation
User2 Acquisition saturation

Remarque The signal coming from the instrument connected to CS Evol is

saturating the user acquisition input.

Remarque Check that the voltage conditioning is in +/-2.5V.

Remarque Check that the cable is connected correctly

17. « 100% Heating » error

MESSAGE
Furnace 1 100 % Heating security
Furnace 2 100 % Heating security
Aux. Furnace 100 % Heating security

Remarque This messages occurs when the instrument heat at 100% power during
more than 1 minute. Only some instrument types are equipped with this security.
18. « No gas » error

MESSAGE
No carrier gas
No protection gas

Remarque These messages can occur when a gas flow rate in programmed but
the real flow rate remains to zero.

Remarque These messages don’t stop the heating control.
