2. Safety recommendations
The configuration operation is a delicate operation which has direct consequences for the operation of the vehicle.
Incorrect configuration can have adverse effects on :
z Safety (Deactivation of the vehicleís protection systems)
z The overall operation of the vehicle (complete loss or downgading of vehicle functions)
z Vehicle diagnostics (Recording of fault codes that can cause the diagnostic toolís diagnostic methods to fail, leading to unjustified
replacements of parts)

Before any attempt to start the engine :

z Check that the parking brake is activated
z If an automatic gearbox, check that the gear lever is in position "P " (Park)
z If a manual gearbox, check that the gear lever is in neutral

3. Preliminary operations
Before any operations :
z Establish communication with the ECU ; Using a diagnostic tool
z Print out all the diagnostic tool screens that indicate the configuration parameter values, or note down these values by hand

4. Configuration

CAUTION : Each time the ECU is replaced, it is necessary to configure the service telephone numbers.

To the question "Did the customer reject localised emergency and assistance call services?", reply with :
z NO if the customer has subscribed to an emergency call contract
z YES if the customer has not subscribed to an emergency call contract

CAUTION : Do not disconnect or switch off the diagnostic tool during the procedure.

If configuring the ECU :

z Establish communication with the ECU
z Perform the configuration by internet
z Check the download

 If replacing an ECU :
z Fit the new ECU
z Establish communication with the ECU
z Perform the configuration by internet
z Check the download
z Perform the programming operations (If necessary)

N.B. : You must then reckon 7 to 8 minutes waiting before the procedure ends.

4.1. Configuring by Internet

Perform the configuration by internet.

CAUTION : If the configuration by internet does not work (presence of a message on the diagnostic tool indicating the error code
associated with the phrase "repeating the operation will serve no purpose"), perform a manual configuration instead of the configuration by
internet (refer to the configuration table).

4.2. Procedure to be followed after configuration

Check and if necessary repeat the parameters after the configuration by internet.
