Polar Bears & Global Warming Impact

Polar bears live in the Arctic and hunt seals on sea ice. However, global warming is causing sea ice to melt, making it harder for polar bears to hunt. As a result, the polar bear population has declined dramatically in recent decades to less than 25,000 today. If global warming continues unchecked, polar bears risk extinction as their sea ice habitat disappears.

Polar bears (also known as Ursus maritimus) are one of the most powerful, fiercest and one

of the most cutest animals ever known. These animals adapt to extreme cold environment.
However something called global warming is disrupting the polar bears reaching their lunch
and surviving.

Polar bears live in the arctic, which is located on the north side of earth. It is one of the most
coldest place in the world. There are many animals living there but the main animal people
know is the famous, white-fur, polar bear. The polar bears are carnivorous much means they
are meat eaters. The polar bears are on the top of the food chain in the arctic ecosystem. The
polar bears eat seals as it is a good source of protein for both, hungry mothers and growing
cubs. A 121 pound seal can last for 8 days but a bear needs to eat much more. When there is
a lot of seals, the Adult polar bear leave the carcass for other animals such as foxes, young
bears, ravens and much more.

Polar bears may attempt to find a prey on shore, including muskox, reindeer, small rodents,
shellfish, fish, eggs, kelp, berries and even human garbage. Bears attracted to communities by
garbage or stored food may come into conflict with people due to the fact that they can’t find
food.

Global warming is one of the greatest environmental threat of our generation, it is caused
when greenhouse gases are released in the air causing climate change. This may be okay for
us however, this is one of the polar bears scariest nightmares. The population of the polar
bears has dropped drastically every year due to the ice melting which makes it harder for a
polar bear to find food. Coal, Oil and natural gas are the things that changed history. These
fossil fuels may be extremely helpful to our daily lives but very harmful to the Arctic
animals. One of the cause and effect of Global warming is that it lets out too much carbon
dioxide in the air which makes the earth warmer. This is also bad for the animals in the
amazon or animals that live in trees, since global warming also causes deforestation which is
the reason why half of the animals in the world are endangered.

The seals are the things polar bear eats. Seals are mammals like us, they need to breathe.
When a polar bear makes a hole, the seals pop their heads out and that's when the polar bears
take a bite. However, that’s hard for the polar bears now since there is more water than ice,
which means the seals can swim around and they can swim deeper that the poor polar bears.
Sometimes, if they are really hungry, they might even take down a walrus.

From 2000 to 2016, it has been said that these were one of the warmest years in the arctic
recorded. Now, scientist are saying that the amount of polar bears are just less than 25,000
Polar bears on the planet right now. The time will soon come that Polar bears won’t be a part
of planet earth.

This needs to stop now. Animals are just like us, they need food to live, air to breathe. What
if we never get to eat food ever again? Well, that’s happening to the Polar bears life now.
Polar bears knows how to swim yet, they are meant to stay on the ice. If Polar bears ever
come to land, we will have Polar bears around our streets and they might be starving and may
eat pets, animals and even humans.

The things we can do to stop global warming is to

● drive smarter cars that don’t let out so much gas or you can just take a public
transport.
● Have a green house: Buy a compact fluorescent lightbulb
● Try buying energy star products (things that use less energy)
● Try using a fan instead of a AC.
● Tell other people to conserve energy too.
● Don’t keep your phone charging for the whole night
● Use your energy wisely!
