Introduction
The concept of social awareness is fairly
simple; it's a person's ability to consider
the perspectives of other individuals,
groups, or communities, and apply that
understanding to interactions with them.
Social Awareness is the ability to take the
perspective of and empathize with others,
including those from diverse backgrounds
and cultures. The ability to understand
social and ethical norms for behaviour and
to recognize family, school, and
community resources and supports.
We are social creatures, and we live in a
world where relationships and social
interactions play a large part in a
successful life. This makes having the
ability to understand the emotions of
others incredibly important.
If we lack social awareness, then it can
cause our lives to be much more difficult
and fuller of friction.
It’s not that social awareness all of a
sudden will make us a social butterfly, it
simply means we will relate to our fellow
man or woman in a more positive and
meaningful way. We will have a better
time understanding their struggles and
what makes them joyful.
Problem and cause of the
problem
Social awareness requires staff and
educators to acknowledge, value, support,
and respond to the cultural values,
traditions, communication, learning styles,
contributions, and relational patterns of
all students in the classroom.
According to the current scenario social
awareness is a main subject that is to be
taught to people of all age groups.
Objective to be achieved
The main objective is to propagate social
awareness via social media platforms.
Apart from this objective includes learning
several measures to adopt social awareness
in our lives.
The aim includes reaching out to the
public regularly, measuring that outreach
accurately, and motivating the public to
take action. Campaigns deliver messages
to an audience, and organizations measure
how many people receive the message.
To encourage people to take positive
actions in support of a cause .
Steps taken to achieve the
objective
To achieve the objective, I took
participation in a NGO named Samadhan
Seva Samiti and leaned techniques to
achieve social awareness like-
1. Understand what it means to listen
Most of us think we’re good listeners.
Unfortunately, the truth is that we’re
usually too busy thinking of our next
response to really hear what others are
saying
2. Repeat what was said
You say you’re listening. But can you
prove it?
The best way to ensure you understand
what’s been said is to repeat back what
you heard in your own words and ask for
more information, if appropriate.
. Pay attention to tone of voice
Ask any actor and they’ll tell you –
the way you say something can be the
difference between night and day.
For example, if an employee
enthusiastically shrills with excitement
while saying, “No problem!” it’s quite a
bit different than an ambivalent mutter of
the same words.
4. Watch facial expressions and body language
Stay aware of nonverbal cues. You must
be present and giving your full attention to
notice things like facial expressions and
body language. While this will require
extra effort, it can go a long way.
For instance, if you ask Adam if he has
time to discuss something, and he winces
while saying, “Sure, we can talk” – take
notice of his body language. While he’s
saying yes, his physical reaction is telling
you it’s not a good time.
6. Notice the details
If you want to be connected to your
employees, you need to keep your eyes
open to your environment and really see
what’s in front of you.
7. Avoid the drive-by
When you’re moving through the room,
you might be tempted to check some
things off your to-do list by discussing any
relevant matters with employees as you see
them.
8. Stop taking notes
While note-taking might have provided
great value when you were in college
lecture courses, the same practice in a
professional setting can have unintended,
negative repercussions.
9)Move forward with improved relationships
As a leader, if you aren’t socially aware,
your employees may feel like you have
your own agenda and don’t care about
their opinions.
Along with this, this NGO provide
participation in Social awareness
campaign.
Although the definition of social
awareness is fairly succinct, it's a nuanced
skill that develops significantly throughout
childhood. In fact, most people
acknowledge that being 'socially aware' is
something that continues to hone
throughout adult life; as we're introduced
to new information and experiences that
require us to understand the views and
standpoints of others.
Effectiveness of the project
I was successful in propagating social
awareness in my community.
I took participation in NGO which
conducted several social awareness
campaigns.
I learned conflict management, increased
positivity and several components of social
awareness like empathy, kindness, respect,
how to become a better listener etc.
I also propagated knowledge of Emotional
self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation,
listening actively and cooperation.
Conclusion
Being the third step in developing
emotional intelligence, social awareness is
a skill that we all must work to build
within ourselves. In a broad sense, it
means having an awareness and
understanding of the world around us.
Social media is a means, not an end.
Awareness is a tactic, not a goal.
So, I conclude my CDP (Community
Development Project) by giving thanks to
all the members who assigned me such a
project and the people who helped me
throughout my project which was full of
experience and learnings.
