0.2.2 Using the Schlumberger License Manager
If you already have other Schlumberger software running on your computer, you can use the
existing Schlumberger License Manager, by following these steps:
1. Copy the FlexLM license file for FORGAS to the same folder as the other FlexLM license
files are kept.
2. Copy the file [Link] from the directory in which FORGAS was installed into the
Schlumberger Licensing software folder (usually c:\program files (x86)\Schlumberger
Licensing\2015.1). This step is required because FORGAS needs this file to use the
FlexLM license, rather than the file used by other Schlumberger software ([Link]).
3. Edit the environment variable SCPLMD_LICENSE_FILE to include @localhost or
port@computer name and the location of the OLGAS vendor file by following these steps:
(a) Right click on the Computer icon and select Properties.
(b) From the column on the left, select Advanced system settings.
(c) Select the Environment Variables… icon (near the bottom of the panel, as shown
in Figure 13).
(d) In the System variables area at the bottom of the panel, click on
SCPLMD_LICENSE_FILE and click on Edit… (as shown in Figure 14).
(e) Add the following to this parameter:
port@server;C:\Program Files (x86)\Common
Files\Schlumberger\OLGAS2000\[Link]
where port@server is the port number and the computer name (e.g.
27000@server1 or @localhost) where the FlexLM license file is located.
If you are using OLGAS in PIPESIM, you will also see the OLGAS vendor file path in
this parameter. The software can only read the first 500 characters of this variable.
Remove references to unused versions of PIPESIM to shorten the path.
(f) Click on OK.
(g) Click on Apply (if available) and then click on OK.
(h) Close the Control Panel by clicking on the X in the upper right hand corner.
4. Start the Schlumberger License Manager, by selecting Start, then select either All
Programs (in Windows 7) or All apps (in Windows 10). Scroll through the programs list
to select Schlumberger and Schlumberger Licensing 2015.1. Then select
Schlumberger Licensing to open the Schlumberger Licensing panel, as shown in
Figure 15.
5. If the licensing system is already set up to use all the licenses in a specified folder (which
is indicated by a folder name in the Local License Server area at the top of the panel),
then you need to select Reread to have the licensing software read all of the licenses in
that directory (including the newly added FORGAS license). If Reread is grayed out (and
thus not available), then select Start instead.

6. If the licensing system is not configured to use a specified folder:
(a) select File from the main menu and then select Advanced options... A panel
similar to that shown in Figure 16 will appear.
(b) In the License Usage Settings section (near the bottom), select the Folder radio
button. If the Folder button is unavailable (grayed out), select Cancel to exit the
panel, select Stop on the Schlumberger Licensing panel and then go back to the
previous step (i.e. select File and Advanced options...).
(c) Select OK to return to the Schlumberger Licensing panel.
(d) Select Add license folder..., then type the folder name in which the license files are
located.
(e) Select Stop and then click on Start.
7. In all cases, once the Message Log indicates the process is complete, click on Status....
8. In the search area, type in FORGAS and click on the magnifying glass icon.
9. The number of licenses to FORGAS should appear.
10. Click on Close to exit that panel.
11. Click on OK or Cancel to exit the Schlumberger Licensing panel.
0.3 Error Messages
This section lists the appropriate actions for various error messages. For additional
assistance, go to https:://[Link].
0.3.1 Installation Error Messages
This section lists the error messages associated with software installation and the appropriate
remedial actions.
...dll failed to register
Complete the installation, then run [Link] from the installation directory.
0.3.2 Security Error Messages
The following lists error messages associated with the software licensing system and the
appropriate remedial actions.
Unknown Error
The software has had an issue with the FlexLM licensing system which could be caused by a
number of reasons. The most likely cause of this error is some sort of corruption with the
Installation Page 19
Figure 16: Schlumberger Licensing Advanced Options Panel
Installation Page 20
software or license manager. You will need to reinstall both the license manager and the
software. If this error persists, contact your Schlumberger Account Manager.
Unable to open license
The software has had an issue reading the FlexLM license file. This could be due to the
license file not having the correct information or the connection to the license server is down.
You should verify that the license server is running, that the network connection to the license
server is active, that the server software is running and that a valid license file is present in the
license directory.
Error with License
The software has had an issue reading the FlexLM license file from the server or the version of
software is not compatible with your license file. You should verify that the license file is
present in the license directory on the server and that the license file has been read correctly.
If the problem persists, please contact your Schlumberger Account Manager for a new version
of the license file and/or software. In addition, this error message will be presented in the
event that a network outage occurs during a license checking operation.
Error closing the connection to the license server
The software has had an issue with closing the connection with the FlexLM license server.
This will require a restart of the license manager as the licenses checked out by the software
will not be available to other users.
0.3.3 OLGAS Error Messages
The following lists error messages associated with the software licensing for the OLGAS
multiphase pressure loss model and the appropriate remedial actions.
License to OLGAS not available
To use the OLGAS (1992) or OLGAS 2-Phase multiphase pressure loss models (as selected
on the Methods panel in the Plant data), you need to purchase or rent a license to OLGAS
2-Phase. Contact your Schlumberger Account Manager to add OLGAS 2-Phase to your
license.
Path to SCPLMD_LICENSE_FILE too long
The software reads the path listed for the SCPLMD_LICENSE_FILE environment variable to
determine where the OLGAS 2-Phase vendor license file is installed (usually c:\Program
Files (X86)\Common Files\Schlumberger\OLGAS2000\[Link]). Either the path is
too long to read (longer than 500 characters) or the required information is missing from that
path. To edit this environment variable, follow these steps:
1. Right click on the Computer icon and select Properties.
2. From the column on the left, select Advanced system settings.
Installation Page 21
3. Select the Environment Variables… icon (near the bottom of the panel, as shown in
Figure 13).
4. In the System variables area at the bottom of the panel, click on
SCPLMD_LICENSE_FILE and click on Edit… (as shown in Figure 14).
5. Add the following to this parameter:
port@server;C:\Program Files (x86)\Common
Files\Schlumberger\OLGAS2000\[Link]
where port@server is the port number and the computer name (e.g. 27000@server1 or
@localhost) where the FlexLM license file is located.
If the path is too long, delete unnecesssary paths (such as unused PIPESIM directories).
6. Click on OK.
7. Click on Apply (if available) and then click on OK.
8. Close the Control Panel by clicking on the X in the upper right hand corner.
Vendor File ([Link]) Expired
If the vendor file ([Link]) has expired, then the software may stop execution when
you select to run a case that uses OLGAS 2-Phase. To confirm if this file has expired, use
Notepad or an ASCII file editor to view this file (see Figure 17), usually located as follows:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Schlumberger\OLGAS2000\[Link]
If the date listed in this file has expired, contact your Schlumberger Account Manager to get an
updated version and copy that new file into this same location.
0.3.4 Other Error Messages
The following lists other error messages and their appropriate remedial actions.
Class not registered, member not found, parameter is incorrect or similar
