Environment variable TCSIM_TOOLPATH_NXNASTRAN=
for tool path d:\engtools\nx\nxnastran\nastran.exe (an example path value)

The setup of this env variable is the responsibility of the end user /
company. The launch scripts will assume these env variables exist
Dataset name(s) holding the tool Dataset Name for Windows = NXNastran_LaunchScripts_Windows
launch script Dataset Name for Unix = NXNastran_LaunchScripts_Unix

• Start the Simcenter Nastran tool with a CAE 3D Analysis IR with Nastran dataset.

• Nastran dataset can have multiple of *.dat or *.bdf files. If more than 1 such file is found, the
system will prompt the user to pick the file that needs to be used for Simcenter Nastran launch

- In the Launch Simulation Tool popup


dialog, optionally change the “Temporary
OS Location” (this is the location where all
the modified files or newly created files
from the current tool launch MUST reside in
order to be imported into Teamcenter)

- Optionally choose the “Display Progress


Monitor On Launch” (the progress monitor
will show up after the actual tool is
launched)

- The progress monitor can be invoked later


via the tool menu View  Simulation Tool

- The *.dat or *.bdf file was found in


TC and the Simcenter Nastran
batch solve process starts in the
background

- If no bdf or dat file was found, the


system will prompt to check if the
tool launch needs to continue
without any inputs. In this case
since there is nothing to be solved,
the obvious choice would be “NO”

- Generate new files (such as


Simcenter Nastran op2 and f04
results) and save it under the
temporary OS location
- Exit the Simcenter Nastran
application
- The TC process will automatically
import the Simcenter Nastran bdf
files (as this is the only configured
file to be imported. But this can be
extended to bring back any file
back into TC as long as the
datamodel supports it)
- The job in the monitor dialog will
change its status to “COMPLETE”
