KADAYAWAN FESTIVAL
HISTORY: Observed every third
week of August, Kadayawan Festival is
Davao City’s biggest and grandest
festival. The term “Kadayawan” is
derived from the Mandaya word
“madayaw”, a greeting used to explain
a thing that is good, valuable, superior,
or beautiful. It is a week-long
celebration and thanksgiving for
nature’s harvest. During this time,
locals and tourists flock the streets of the city to witness major events such as the Indak-
Indak sa Dalan and Floral Float Parade.

PANAGTAGPO FESTIVAL
HISTORY: Tagum City Panagtagbo
Festival coincides with Tagum’s
founding anniversary. The term
"panagtagbo" refers to a meeting. The
festival describes a celebration where
Tagumeños meet with other Tagumeños
from different walks of life. The
diversity of Tagumeños is emphasized
during the festival because, with Tagum
being the crossroad of business in
Mindanao, the earliest Tagumeños came from different regions in the island.

BANANA FESTIVAL
HISTORY: Tagum, Davao del Norte
The festival features street dancing and
an agri trade fair to highlight Davao
del Norte as a "banana country".
Banana is the largest economic
contributor for the province and the
festival pays tribute to its abundance in
the area.
