Highway Mini Nest Circular Dated 24-01-2018

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has launched an ambitious project called Highway Nest (Mini) to provide facilities like drinking water, tea/coffee, food, and restrooms for travelers at 372 toll plazas across India. Signage must be installed to inform travelers about this new facility. Signs measuring 2 feet by 3 feet should be placed 1 km, 300 meters, and at locations before and after each toll plaza. Signs 1 km and 300 meters away will be on flex board or metal, while those at the locations will have illumination. All regional officers are requested to install these signs at toll plazas with Highway Nest facilities.

Sir,
As you all are aware that NHAI has launched a very ambitious project of Highway Nest
(Mini) for convenience of esteemed highway users for their safe and comfortable journey by
facilitating them with drinking water, tea/coffee, packaged food and eatables on upside and
downside of the National Highways at all the 372 toll plazas under operation by NHAI. Accordingly,
the work of construction/execution and its operation is under progress as per the report made
available by you all.

Chairman NHAI has directed that to make aware the highway users regarding the facility of
Highway Nest (Mini) created at toll plazas, road signages of size 2 ft. X 3 ft. are to be placed
ahead of 1 km, 300 m at toll plaza and at locations upside and downside of the toll plaza (copy
enclosed for reference). Further, it is informed that the signage of size 2 ft. X3 ft. of 1 km and
300 m will be of flex board or normal metallic signboard but the signage to be installed at location
will be having illumination/backlight display so that it will be visible in night also. The road
signages are to be installed on both sides upstream/downstream.

It is therefore requested that these signages should be installed at all the toll plazas where
Highway Nest (Mini) facilities are being created/inaugurated under your jurisdiction as explained
in Video Conference of CGM (IT&HO) on 24.01.2018.

This issues with the approval of the Competent Authority.
