OPRAH WINFREY

He was born in 1954 in Mississippi, a small American town, where he lived

very poor. He lived with his grandmother until he was 6 years old, then he went
to live with his mother, from that moment, he lived one of the worst times of his
life because his mother was in the midst of enormous difficulties. He suffered
mistreatment by his schoolmates, a few years later, Oprah Winfrey, when he
was only nine years old, was raped by one of his cousins.

Years later, in his own home, the horrible story repeated itself with a very close
friend of his family. Her days at school were full of ridicule, her classmates
pointed at her and laughed at her, the worst was yet to come at the age of
thirteen she was raped by one of the people she trusted the most, her uncle and
weeks later she realized she was pregnant.

At the age of fourteen, she lost her baby due to serious health complications.
The pain she felt was too much and since then she promised herself that no one
else would abuse her again.

Therefore, he dedicated himself to pursuing his dreams by studying and fighting

against those who tried to harm him. Finally, she went to live with her father, a
former soldier with whom she had lived very little during her life, but despite
being a strict and uncaring man, he encouraged her to study and improve her
grades.

At the age of seventeen, she began to receive the first rewards for her efforts by
winning the "Miss Black America" pageant and getting a scholarship to the
University of Tennessee.

At nineteen, she had already made history, becoming the first African-American
woman on a news program in the United States. However, four years later, the
news directors fired her because, according to her, Oprah did not fit in the
program because she became emotionally involved with the stories she told.

Oprah Winfrey was never going to give up, and she pushed herself to keep
fighting for her biggest dream is to create her own television show. The effort,
the talent to speak in front of the cameras started the most successful program
on American television "The Oprah Winfrey Shoe" which was on the air for
twenty-five years.

The small and defenseless girl who had suffered abuse and mistreatment, not
only became the most powerful woman in the world but also the first African-
American woman billionaire, with a fortune estimated at almost three billion
dollars.

Today Oprah Winfrey is a renowned businesswoman, owner of her own

magazine, her own production company and a successful television channel,
and yet she has never forgotten her origins and although she surely has not been
able to forget all the painful experiences in her life, she has learned to heal his
wounds and use all this pain to help others.

He is the celebrity who donates the most money to support good causes,
throughout his career. But without a doubt, the most important came in
November 2013 from the hands of former President Barack Obama: he received
the presidential Medal of Freedom.

Recently this brave woman created the leadership academic for girls in South
Africa with which to seek to prevent other little innocents from suffering the
pain and abuse that she experienced when she was little.

Oprah Winfrey has taught us by example that no matter how hard life hits
you, you always have two choices: surrender or build an empire.
