ENGLISH TEACHERS LAC SESSION 1 GUIDE

LAC Components Activity Suggested


Period

Small Group sharing The LAC Facilitator asks the group to subdivide into 5 15-20 minutes
*For small LACs (2-5 groups.
members), you can do this
activity as a Big Group 1 will discuss their completed DL matrix and
Group/Plenary sharing come to a shared understanding of the different
LDMs and their defining features and requirements.

Group 2 will discuss targeted interventions for


learners with special concerns in order to include
them in DL.

Group 3 will share their outputs on Lesson 2 Activity


4, and answer the following questions as a group:
1. For learning tasks not found in the SLM you
examined, what materials or resources can
you create or curate to supplement the
module?
2. What kind of additional support can you give:
a) the learner, and/or b) the household
partner so that they are guided throughout
the lesson?
3. How can you gather feedback on the
different learning tasks in order to refine or
modify current and future lessons?

Group 4 will share their outputs on Lesson 2


Activity 6, and as a group answer the following
questions:
1. What are the most common assessment
methods among the group members?
2. What are the challenges in doing assessment
in DL?
3. Despite the challenges, what opportunities
can you and your colleagues explore to make
assessment manageable in DL?
Group 5 will share their WHLPs and ILMPs and
discuss key learnings, and how they can use these
learnings to improve their WHLPs and ILMPs.

*Small groups can be held as break-out on platforms


that allow this, such as Zoom, Facebook, Viber,
WhatsApp, or others

Small Group report The LAC Facilitator will ask a representative from 20-25 minutes
each small group to share the key points during their
sharing and discussions to the big group.

Big Group/Plenary sharing The LAC Facilitator synthesizes insights shared and 10 minutes
understanding gained from the different activities as
reported by the representatives.

Key understandings about the types of DL, targeted


interventions for learners with special needs,
challenges and opportunities in planning for
instruction and assessment in distance learning, and
in preparing the WHLP and ILMP will be highlighted.

Looking forward to the next The LAC Facilitator sets the assignment: Study LDM2 5 minutes
session Module 3B.

The LAC Facilitator ensures agreement on schedule


and platform for the next LAC session.
