Romulus and Remus
To Rhea were born two fair boys; they were twins. Their grandfather, King
Amulius, commanded one of his men to take the two children, throw them away, and destroy
them. This man, therefore, put them into a trough, or kind of cradle, and carried them towards
the River Tiber, with the intention of throwing them in.
But he found that the river had risen so high, and was running so swiftly, that he
was afraid to go near the water’s side, and so be laid them on the bank in the trough in which
he had carried them. In the meantime the river, ever swelling and overflowing its banks more
and more, came underneath the trough, gently lifted it up, carried it into a great plain, and as
the waters receded finally left it near a wild fig tree.
To these two children lying there in this manner came a she-wolf and suckled them,
and a woodpecker also which helped to nourish them and keep them. These two creatures are
now held as sacred to the god Mars.
Faustulus, the chief cowherd to King Amulius, found the two children under the fig
tree and took care of them. The two boys, by name Romulus and Remus, were carefully
brought up by Faustulus and his wife, being instructed in all honourable things.
The brothers grew up, and in course of time Romulus founded the city of Rome and
became its first king.

Disney World was constructed in 1971 on 27,400 acres of partially swamp land in central
Florida. 8000 of these acres constitute a wildlife sanctuary not accessible to the 130 million
people from around the world who have been to Disney World since its opening.
The park opens at 9 a.m. and shuts down at various hours, depending upon the time of the
year – six, nine or midnight. On a busy day as many as 90,000 visitors may be in the park, but
there are so many activities available that there is plenty of room for everyone. The Magic
Kingdom is the main section, but there are hotels, restaurants, a lagoon, and a huge lake with
four and a half miles of beaches where visitors swim or paddle around in rented boats. A
reasonable estimate of the cost per person daily is about $60, excluding transportation costs to
Orlando.
